Linking Multiple Markets to the Same Bet Angel Tab in Excel

Hi,

I have set up my excel spreadsheet to do exactly what I want, basically I link multiple markets from guardian to the ONE sheet in excel and it cycles through them searching for suitable bets. The pace of the cycle depends on the refresh interval I specify in guardian. My problem is that BA follows no specified cycle order that I can see, often going over a market a few times before others have came up at all??? Do you know what I mean? I am just wondering if anyone has a workaround or solution to this?

Cheers

I think it is partly down to speed of your computer, sometimes excel doesn't 'catch up' and it'll seem BA is skipping the market.

I find it ok for up to about 8 markets in guardian and about the same number of tabs in excel. Much more than this and the level of skipping out markets seems to be increased

Be interested to hear if others have this problem and if a well specced up computer with lots of ram would solve this or if it's still an issue.

Bet Angel cycles from the top of Guardian to the bottom. When you first populate the market it cycles the first market and then works its way down the list.

You can sort Guardian by clicking on the columns at the top, so if you want Guardian to sort by start time, click on that column. It will alternate between ascending and descending order.

It doesnt seem to happen this way for me. The first market which appears in excel is often in the middle of list and jumps randomly around the list. I also have a problem with data usage. I've had three emails from betfair saying I have requested to much data even though I have loaded settings limiting requests to 15 p/s and have lowered it now to 10p/s?? Should I have started a new post about this?

If you can give us clear instructions as to how to replicate what you see we can have a look for you. From our end everything seems normal?

Re: data charges, you could put a billion markets in Guardian and still not break the data charge limit. Bet Angel manages the calls at a core level and makes sure that limit is not exceeded. That was one of the reasons for the creation of Guardian, to allow people access to multiple markets but to keep them under the limit.

You can ask Betfair for a graph of your usage and that may highlight any oddities with your usage. You may also want to read this: -

This shows you how you can set levels below the charge but still incur the charge!

To replicate, try linking about 15 markets in guardian excel feature to different worksheets in the same excel workbook, on an 'average' PC (average processor speed and RAM <1gb)
and set the refresh time to 200ms. You may notice guardian doesn't robustly refresh each market in turn in the excel and may even miss out a market completely for 10-15 seconds.

I think it depends on the complexity of the excel workbook e.g. having other formulas and code in the excel causes this as it never quite 'catches' up
You may find it works ok on a fast PC and an excel workbook with the standard multiple BA template with no formulae, but of course this isn't a realistic trading situation where in reality you would always have some code in the workbook.

I personally don't think this is a fault of the BA software as i think it is doing everything it can and it's more of a PC/excel speed issue in keeping up with guardian trying to update the excel.
