The development of humans is inexorably linked to the human brain and in particular, the capacity of humans (after signifcant mutation and evolution) to imagine. Imagination of possibility gives us everything from betangel to manned space flight. Of course, imagination also gives us everything in between, from virgins giving birth to supernatural beings to angels appearing to an illiterate desert warlord/ trader to all forms of mass hysteria and crowd madness where people fail to understand, process and make sense of the most basic of facts (eg. another excellent Quillette article - https://quillette.com/2021/01/16/rise-o ... us-cranks/)

Perhaps out of all of the wild madness we can each have a bit of introspection - how do I know what I know? how can I be sure of anything at all?

Seriously though, a lot can be lost in translation when you're communicating via a forum, and you and I might get on well with SB in person. It's quite possible that he's a really nice guy in real life.

If I posted what I think, it would be a reflection of private messages... what I wont do is impact somebody else in order to get one over on someone. SB values himself as a member of the forum but what he doesn't realise is he's largely disliked, by the people he thinks like him.

I don't know who the 'we' is but for the record I'm not one of them.

I don't think I've ever felt that strongly about anyone on the forum. Sure the lost cause conspiracy theorist nutjobs are a bit out there but even then I wouldn't have strong feelings one way or another about them. As far as I'm concerned its all just a bit of banter unless I'm told otherwise and I overstep the mark but I'm sure I'd be told by those I'm having the back and forth with.

I've always thought SB was one of the sane ones!
