Seriously though, if you want to take the moral high ground, don't be rude!

So hurtful, I really tried to be the popular kid on the forum too.jamesg46 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 17, 2021 1:50 amIts not what I think sb, its what they think & I've said already I'm not going to air it. If I posted what I think, it would be a reflection of private messages... what I wont do is impact somebody else in order to get one over on someone. SB values himself as a member of the forum but what he doesn't realise is he's largely disliked, by the people he thinks like him.
Must admit, James, I've always seen you as that snidey kid at school , always trying to egg people on to cause trouble/fights saying "he said that", "she said this" etc , start something then run off to the back of the crowd.
The forum's been getting far too bigotted and right wing for my liking for quite some time and now a new bff, Jeff, has arrived to egg on it's hardly going to get any better so I'll bow out. Another scalp to hang along side Shaun's for you

I would respond to Jeff's comments but he always strikes me as someone who life's handed out a bum deal already so no point adding to it.
Dear God (intended pun), you start the attacks and then leave playing the victim. You claim me to be a fabricator of story's to create trouble at the same time as fabricating the picture that I was responsible for Shaun leaving the forum. I guess I'm just a reflection of yourself.spreadbetting wrote: ↑Sun Jan 17, 2021 1:12 pmSo hurtful, I really tried to be the popular kid on the forum too.jamesg46 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 17, 2021 1:50 amIts not what I think sb, its what they think & I've said already I'm not going to air it. if your going to stop posting dont do it because of other peoples opinions. That would be a mistake.
if you do stop then people who aspire to trade will be missing a hell of a lot of solid advice and and help (such as all your vba code).
no disrespect to people like ferru (who i like but have disagreed with on numerous occasions), his resurrection on this forum will not help anyone to trade one iota, along with a lot of the other contributors to this forum, seems to be an unbalanced swap
personally i hope you don't stop posting over a noddy two bob Fred , absolute waste.
best of luck

It was interesting that SB's departure note referenced right wing politics.
I think that's what this is really about, and that he dislikes us because of his perception of our politics.
It's a shame when that happens - when politics becomes personal, instead of people expressing vastly different political views but remaining on good terms - but it is what it is. My guess is that SB sees us both as insular Little Englanders, when (in my case and probably your own) it couldn't be further from the truth.

There is no need for the sarcasm.
SB was playing the victim when he has been a nasty piece of work at times, and I don't have much time for people playing the victim card.

None taken, and my resurrection will be extremely short-lived! I'm surprised I'm still here!
If SB wants to leave because of me, fine. I'm really not going to lose any sleep over it. He instigated the unpleasantness, and all I did was respond to his barbs in a humorous manner (laugher being the best medicine).

It was all for perception. Shaun just left the forum without a word, sb had to go out playing the victim and creating false pictures.SweetLyrics wrote: ↑Sun Jan 17, 2021 1:33 pmIt was interesting that SB's departure note referenced right wing politics.

Remember yesterday when he made the watch out for flying dummies comment at you... well you've just witnessed the flying dummy.

I'll just add briefly that I think that what's happened has underlined the need for proper moderation of the forum.
In my experience, forums turn into ego battles when contentious opinions are being put forward and people are left to their own devices (look no further than Twitter).
I therefore think that it would be good if a moderator could have a friendly chat with anyone who starts making irrelevant barbs (especially as those comments will inevitably provoke retaliation, as happened in this thread, dragging down the forum).
Anyway, that's me for now. Bye.

The victim card is literally your only card Jeff.
You just want a moderator who will step in when somebody says something that you don’t agree with or if somebody leaves you looking foolish.
The reason people leave is not because they don’t feel that they have the intellect to debate with the likes of you. It’s because of how the likes of you debate. You and James post about two pages to every single comment from someone else, often long drawn out hard to read drivel too.
There are always going to be disagreements and nobody will ever truly know who is right or wrong. Though it’s very obvious who shouts the loudest. And that is why people leave.
Don't think the forum needs an ego police, that would be an impossible task for any moderator and sides would have to be picked sooner or later.SweetLyrics wrote: ↑Sun Jan 17, 2021 1:53 pmI'll just add briefly that I think that what's happened has underlined the need for proper moderation of the forum.

I have to agree with Peter and Dallas when it comes to forum policy, the forum is for the most part moderating itself. It's not a perfect system and unpopular opinions do face an uphill battle most of the time but that's to be expected.
I even think some of the bans (temporary timeouts) were a bit premature and weren't fully warranted, Luke etc come to mind, maybe even Nivi, but you can understand why they were made, to appease the majority that wanted them.
