Hi
Just been reviewing my March P&L...and planning for April
Excuse my ignorance on horse racing but could someone just answer me a very simple question?
"On average are there as many runners on the flat races as there are in the jumps?"

Sorry not intended as a topic as such
Thanks for your help
Peter

Edit: Not looking for detailed stats, just a guess will do (as my dad used to say "A good guess is better than a bad measure!" so that's good enough for me! :)

Since you're not looking for perfection here I thought I'd pipe in - from my foggy recollection I think that flat fields do tend to be bigger, it takes a lot less work to train a flat horse than it does, for instance, a chaser

One of the biggest differences to consider is the weather and the associated ground. In the winter you will get NH horses that need a specific type of ground so weather can play havoc. When you also factor in the lack of training that occurs when we get the snow this also reduces runners as they are either unfit or the connections cannot get their horses to the course.

Hopefully, during the coming "warmer" months; I won't say s***er as it rarely appears, we can gain some momentum and see larger fields.

How do this year's monthly averages so far compare with the same months last year?
