I tried to upload a screen shot of my set up (taken on XP Pro) but the Forum advised me that"BMP is not allowed". How do I either change the existing screen shot from BMP to an acceptable code or how do take a new screen shot in an acceptable code??
Thanks

Try types *.jpg or *.gif .
PS: Am I correct to assume you are a fan of one of Barts's Best ?

Thanks for that Rubysglory - I'll give it a try and let you know how it goes.
Yep, I was just married when Galilee won the 1966 Caulfield and Melbourne Cups double - he went on to win the Sydney Cup in 1967 as well. Beautifully bred - by Alcimedes out of Galston - I seem to remember there was some hint of a double cross back to both Hyperion and Balloch. Anyway, he paid for my washing machine at the time.
Where are you based - I'm in Melbourne.
cheers

Hi Galilee66.
I'm in Adelaide. Galilee is one of my Dad's best of alltime. That and the mighty Tulloch. RG is a acronym of a favourite filly of mine - by Honour And Glory out of Ruby Sunday.

RG,
Saying that Galilee was one of your Dad's favourites drives home my age!! Still, at the moment it's still better than the alternative!
The amazing thing about 1966 was my naive approach to the whole betting business. I had thought for some months that Galilee would win the Caulfield Cup and that if he ran well in that he would be a big chance in the Melbourne Cup. I sorted through the field on Caulfield Cup day and decided that Galilee would win and that Gala Crest would run second - so I took one quinella ticket! They duly ran 1 and 2 and I collected about $60 (remember Australia had only switched to decimal currency in Feb of that year) my weekly wage at the time was about $39.00 - so I was pretty pleased with that.
Then a day or two before the Melbourne Cup I worked out that Galilee would win and Light Fingers would run second - so I took another 50cent quinella ticket - which they did and I collected another $60 (or so)- I remember thinking "Gee, this is a very strong lurk!" But, of course, I was in for some serious lessons in the art of the punt.
It was interesting on Cup Day that year as I had my first philosophy exam that afternoon and used the experience of Galilee winning and my collecting money as a result of that in my exam question on the theory of knowledge. (and I passed!)
If you are in Melbourne at any time contact me and we will get together - I meet fairly regularly with another BA trader so we would be delighted for you to join us.
cheers

The posts in this thread highlight the big difference between this forum and some of the others on the internet. I enjoy the occasional visits here because even disagreements are handled in a civilised manner and it is rare indeed to even see disagreements let alone an argument.
I hope you guys get to meet up, it's good to know that a friendly spirit exists. I wish the rest of the world could behave in such a friendly manner!

Nice story. Sounds like Galilee may have been the one that really got you set on the punters road. For me it was the Perth flyer Placid Ark - 1987 I'm thinking ?? I distinctly remember his assault on the autumn sprinters treble of the Lightning Stakes, Oakleigh Plate & Newmarket Handicap. History shows that he became the first horse to win all three races in the same season. History shows that I was 'hooked', although not always with the same success ! If Melbourne bound will drop you a line.

Jolly Green,
Nice comments - I agree - this forum is professional and free of the vitriol and nastiness of some other forums - the forum participants are always willing to help each other with advice and useful tips (not racing tips!) aimed at improving trading ability.
It is always a pleasure to open the BA forum.
BTW - the invitation to Rubysglory is extended to you (and indeed all forumites) if you are intending to visit Melbourne let me know and we will catch up and exchange notes.
cheers

RG,
Placid Ark was a champion ( I am originally from WA - so I can claim some tenuous connection with fame!)
I'll look forward to catching up if you get to Melbourne - let me know a bit in advance and I will arrange my usual meeting with the other BA trader to fit in.
cheers
