Just thought I would quickly stick this post up and please correct me if I am wrong...!
During Cheltenham there was a charity race run in aid of cancer research I believe... anyhow I was patiently waiting for the remainder of my position (very large) to be taken as it was at the front of the queue, with no intention of allowing it to go inplay, when suddenly the market suspended and never went inplay... as you can imagine my heart nearly popped out of my chest - unbelievably 'for once' the horse won leaving me with an outstanding Cheltenham total although it still tastes bitter sweet and I would rather of not had been in that position with a large amount of my bank sat there on the table...
It may not have gone inplay due to all of the riders being complete amateurs, for example my horse that ran was riden by an RUK presenter... It may be a one off but now any race preceded by the word charity raises alarm bells...
I haven't got time to check this morning but just wanted to pass on to everyone that it is well worth checking whether charity events go inplay.... wouldn't want anyone to go through two minutes like that with no way of getting out no matter what the outcome...!

I had a similar problem at Chelt. Luckily I didn't loose too much in the end but it was a nasty couple of minutes. You could maybe say we both should have checked the rules before trading the market, but since EVERY race I've ever traded prior to that one had turned in play I didn't exactly think about it. The charity race here also won't go in play.

Grand National is a time for me to relax with the family and enjoy the racing. I hate it when the Betfair servers start to creak under the pressure so I'd rather enjoy the day and not risk a loss due to a freeze or crash.
Good luck if you trade today.

I had a similar experience in that race (luckily Lorna Fowler went on to win and I did very nicely out of it, but I'd still rather not have made money that way). 'horrible feeling when the race went in-play and the ladders were just blank! It made me realise that that I tend to let far too many races go in-play, and should never have been in that position.
