Anybody interested in mentoring me.....you might even find out I know more than you but I just cannot find any consistency.

I've been trading for about 5 years and smashed up a good few banks. Mostly when I am tired after getting up early like today. Im about to give it up as Im going to set up a Bus Company instead (that is going to massive should have done it years ago) but if anybody is interested in working together I will work with them.

I am prepared to tell you everything I know (you might be surprised) and give you any of my spreadsheets. If not, dont worry yourself.

Ask me anything on this thread and I will tell you....not holding anything back. I just dont learn by my mistakes.

Apologies in advance to anybody who reads this and thinks I've spilled thier strategies on the forum.

What are you going to call your bus company?

Post a brief description about your preferred style of trading because anyone who looks to team up with you is going to need to be into a similar if not the same style as yourself.

For example I have a very strong lay bias and look to trade breakouts in trends and sometimes reversals. So myself and someone who scalps would be absolutely no use to each other.

Good idea though, hope you find someone to team up with.

Yes, a vague description of the sports traded and types of trades would be useful.

I am not sure if u are a manual trader or Bot - u say u have many spreadsheets but have busted many banks.

That's a little conflicting.

A mentor won't change your wiring esp when you've tried for 5yrs, so if you're the weakest link take yourself out of the equation. 5yrs says whatever you're doing isn't working for you and it's time for a change. I'm obviously suggesting automation, screw getting up early and being chained to your desk behaving like a robot, do your work when it's convenient and you can work on other ventures at the same time.

Thanks for the replys.

First of all my Bus Company is going to be called Shuttle Bus (V.I.P) but more of that later.

I'd say my trading style is looking at reversals in highs/lows on the ladder. So if something has steamed in (and Im not with the steam) I will look to see if it is reversing or holding before moving furth down/up.

Primarily, Im a lay first trader which stems from my background in laying horses IR which I've done for quite a few years. I'd say the last 2 years were mainly pre off and I've learnt a lot.

Still the old foes of discipile and focus get in my way.....not sure if that is ever going to change.

I might sound cheeky but I want to be the lesser of the two in any partner ship. I buddied up with somebody once and they knew 20% of that I did and I was just transferred my knowledge to him and he gave me nowt.

Not sure how it would work anyway.

I suppose the problem you're going to have is what does the other person get out of it?

If you buddy up with someone at your own level then you can learn together but buddying up with someone who understands the markets better than you do would mean a pretty one sided partnership and not sure if anybody would want to put time and effort into effectively teaching somebody else.

Fair play to you for asking but pretty much everyone on the forum would like to learn from somebody more advanced in their journey than they are.

I think it's just called making friends. In the last 5 years I've connected with 4 or 5 like-minded people, emailed a lot (trading and non trading chat) and sometimes made the effort to travel 00s of miles to meet up for a few hours. Tbh I'm a fairly self contained person who doesn't do "friends" but it's nice having watercooler buddies to shoot the breeze with every few weeks. "Mentoring" is all well and good but nobody is looking for an extra job but every trader likes talking trading with people they like who have a similar approach.

Sort out that discipline xtrader, no amount of knowledge will help if you can't stick to the knowledge and stop improvising.

I never managed it trading manually, made all the plans did all the research then pretty much did whatever I felt like in the moment. Instead of being controlled and discipled for hours on end like performing a Steve Reich piece, for at least 2hrs a week I was like the drummer in the Muppets. So much for the zero sum game, I always got my ass kicked.

I can see where you coming from but that only works if its not a transactional relationship. Like you say if you're just looking to connect with like minded people that's fine but if you're connecting with someone like OP who is specifically looking for a trading mentor then that could be problematic.

Good luck with the new team project, keep us updated how you get on. I thought about dropping in a I'll team up message because our styles sound similar but I just didn't see how discipline is something that can be transferred from one to another, especially when you may have bigger priorities with the business setup.

Best of luck anyway & it'll be good for the forum to see if this experiment works out, who knows what it could lead to.

I think that connecting with like minded people is much better than trying to go this game alone no matter what stage you are at.

Being part of a small group has definitely helped my trading journey. I believe you can openly discuss strategies and ideas without fear of losing an edge for manual trading since even if everyone knows the same things, they will probably still trade the same markets differently. Even just having people to discuss the markets with keeps me sane when all the people around you in real life probably just think you're a mad gambler and you start to question if anyone is actually making money from this.

PS this had to be done...
