It's a small price to pay to avoid being mind control by Bill Gates.
If pubs lose 20-30% of their customers and need to increase their prices to survive you might need to pay more for pints, and how will you do that if Bill Gates takes your edge?
I'm surprised anyone welcomes the North Korea-style idea of vaccine passes. The advert for them in Denmark shows what it will lead to, everyone in the family must take the vaccines and have a digital tracking app ready to scan for a family gathering. I'm guessing if someone doesn't have their green tick then the police will come and fine/arrest them
Don't you worry the chip's been put in the water you drink, the food you buy, all the confectionery, canned drinks, medication, etc?alexmr2 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 25, 2021 2:47 amIt's a small price to pay to avoid being mind control by Bill Gates.

Are you going to refuse all injections in case the chip's in it?

Boris might shake things up a little...
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
I'm wondering what the difference is between showing a vaccine passport and showing id to confirm a person's age. I realise it's illegal to sell alcohol to minors and it's not illegal to not have a vaccine. But if you remove the 'freedom' and privacy elements. Surely its a fairly sensible idea. And my understanding is publicans can turn anyone away without giving a reason, so perhaps BJ is right, that will be how it works.wearthefoxhat wrote: ↑Thu Mar 25, 2021 8:00 amDerek27 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 25, 2021 3:45 amDon't you worry the chip's been put in the water you drink, the food you buy, all the confectionery, canned drinks, medication, etc?alexmr2 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 25, 2021 2:47 am

Then again there's always strong resistance to anything like compulsory national id cards.
Hmmm!
The way I see it, going to the pub is a voluntary activity. As is the cinema, restaurant etc. If a publican only wants to allow customers through the door with a vaccination certificate then it's up to him/her. I then have as choice whether to enter or not. Same thing applies to countries, cruise ships who will only allow vaccinated entry.
It's when you start applying the same rules to activities classed as a "right" you are on a slippery slope - voting, protests, shopping, meeting others etc
Apparently they are taking orders for fake certs on the dark web already...

How about AIDS tests for gay bars?
Criminal record checks?
Thin end of the wedge.

And recipients of annual flu jabs aren't required to prove they've had it.superfrank wrote: ↑Thu Mar 25, 2021 9:46 amHow about AIDS tests for gay bars?

With a bit of luck thats what covid will turn into. New vaccines every year to tackle new variants and deaths in line with flu. Maybe.
But the mood music from BJ is to do everything to prevent increasing restrictions again.
So perhaps its a small, temporary price to pay? Dunno!
You mean an HIV test for brothels. You should know by now that heterosexuals can catch and transmit HIV and people generally don't have sex in bars.superfrank wrote: ↑Thu Mar 25, 2021 9:46 amHow about AIDS tests for gay bars?

How does that work in practice though?
Don't know what its like in the UK but here in Ireland pubs (when they were open) have that sign but by law cannot refuse anyone entry without a good reason. When I was younger I worked as a bouncer part time and if the management didn't want a certain type of person in the place you could just stop them at the door. Now everyone shouts discrimination if they're not let in.
Will be interesting to see how it works itself out if these certs become a reality. I personally think its a good idea but enforcing it will be a different matter. Some pubs cant even stop underage drinkers getting on their premises and will they even be bothered enforcing it?
"There is a common law right to refuse entry to whom he/her chooses, provided the refusal is not on grounds of sex, race, disability, gender, sexual orientation and religion or belief. Being refused actual entry to premises is a simple extension of the right of refusal to serve."Trader Pat wrote: ↑Thu Mar 25, 2021 12:25 pm

If a pub decides they want to take the moral high ground then they'll be pretty much be empty up until September when the majority of 18-30yo's are fully vaccinated and by then they'll be out of business.greenmark wrote: ↑Thu Mar 25, 2021 10:25 amAnd recipients of annual flu jabs aren't required to prove they've had it.superfrank wrote: ↑Thu Mar 25, 2021 9:46 amHow about AIDS tests for gay bars?

I really don't like the way it's going, I remember 6 months ago if you thought we'd have covid passports you were a conspiracy theorist. The only reason I won't refuse the jab is because I want to go on holiday in the near future, if I don't get one you never know when they might let you in...

Cant' say I ever refused someone entry based on any of the above, I wish I could have though I'd have had great fun asking people their religion.
Sorry private function tonight, Atheists only

Actually, on the privacy/evil state issue. The evil state can already track your movements if it chooses. Phones and card transactions leave a trail of data if someone wants to use it.
So we're left with being annoyed at the imposition of an irritating rule and as TraderPat says implementing it. Bouncers at every pub door? Great for the security industry!
