Obviously a good internet connection is mission critical for any trader.
So we all concentrate on our "main" connection but what about when for what ever reason this is unavailable what do you do next?
Currently i'm switching to mobile hotspot on my phone but i find this unreliable and cumbersome to quickly switch. So im keen to hear what you consider best practice.
Cheers
Internet back What do you have in place?
for me, this is all about delegation of the main contact with BA (or whatever your engine is) and betfair. for that reason, i've pretty much run my activities from a VM (VPS) for the past 5 years. that way, even if my home internet goes down, i know that my transactions are running unaffected.
on the rare occassions that my home internet goes down, i then use my 4g hotspot via my phone to RDP onto the VM.

I just use a laptop connected to 4G so I can switch to that in the event of internet failure, power failure or PC failure. But of course it doesn’t help in the event of a Betfair outage!
I’m not one for trying to hedge on a different exchange during a betfair outage as it’s often difficult to know exactly your position and what bets might or might not get taken if it suddenly comes back on. I just let them run and hope for the best. Over the years there has been a handful of times I’ve been stuck in the market during an outage and it’s pretty much evened itself out

If your a home player, and depending on what level you are at, trying to achieve I would recommend business broadband, connection via CAT modem as default wireless secondary backup.
