betfair history download

keep my own records, but due to a bit of file managing error, I have managed to delete 1 months worth.
downloaded bet history from betfair site but can't open in excel.
I am using office 2010.
the download appears to be 97 - 2003.
when I attempt to open I get the message -
unreadable content in bethistory.xls
do you want to recover the contents of the workbook?
I click yes, but nothing happens.
any guidance much appreciated.

thanks for that.
yes I am running windows 7.
just talked to betfair.
helpdesk claims to be unaware of the problem.
however they have offered to extract and email
betting history.

I've phoned them on at least a dozen times to ask why it hasn't been sorted. Each time they say they are not away of it. It has even been posted quite a few times on their forum!

update.
received email with .xls file attached.(bet history)
my system recognises this as an excel 97-2003 file
and has no problem opening in a worksheet.
one strange point that I can't understand -
this file is over 3 times the size of my account download (corrupt) for the same period.
