But it all seems a bit like hard work.
Rik was extremely sarcastic by the way.

If I didn't know any better I'd say you were too, but I still remember my first week in trading
I get credited for inventing greening up and Rik gets credited for the back the draw 2021 system.

How much do guys on here make? Guy in my old group reckons he made 40k 5 years straight MB. I reckon he’s full of shit, as no way he hasn’t been gubbed everywhere by now, though reckons got loads of accounts. He was doing it a bit before me , said bet365 used to give massive bonuses just for joining. I got 21 k first year, was aiming for 20, then hoping to go up to 25. But got 21 k first year, 17 next year, then gubbed everywhere the next lol
When people post fat greens I never spend much time thinking whether or not they're genuine. I automatically think, well done if it is, sad if it's not. But it's amazing how many times on this forum people have asked "can people really make that much?". Most of us will remember that feeling as a teenager when your mates tell you how much they've been shagging. ;)

Someone's probably already made a website to sell Back The Draw 2021 system by now :D

Thx for inventing greening up, made my life so much easier

@alex thanks, that’s quite a range. MB varies from 5k for part timers, up to 50k for multi accounters though don’t think there are that many of them left these days.
@kai not told about premium charge, know about commission from MB, 2% Smarkets , betfair is 2% through oddsmonkey, never had to pay half
@derek I find when it’s my turn to do bathroom putting some music on makes the work seem easier, i might try it with trading if it’s that hard. I also find that cif bathroom spray is better than flash

Thank's for the tip. I find if you clean it before it gets dirty in the first place anything will do, but that's easier said than done. :)

If there's chewing gum stuck on the floor you'll need a high pressure washer from the council

Thanks, but I don't chew gum and if I did I wouldn't spit it out on the bathroom floor.

Probably gonna have to sleep on it. Wasn't really expecting this much information to absorb. Will try and read the betting blog and the goat thread in the morning, see if it makes anymore sense
Thanks to everyone who helped.
Will carry on with the draw system and the free bet greening for now. Don't really fancy it if it's gonna be too hard like everyone says, though I don't need 7 figures plus lol. Maybe just take it easier and earn a bit less. Or might just look at something else, eBay or something like that Thanks.

If we assume there's approx 10,000 races a year (it's a figure I've heard in the BA videos), my experience is that pulling £1 from each race, as a beginner, is a lot harder than it seems, partly because it has to average out with all the losses. Since you'd have to make £2-3 on average to replace that income, it tells you what kind of consistency you have to reach. It's not easy, but easier than making 20K a year on ebay

I don't mean to put a damper on your trading journey but it's not a question of earning a bit less but whether you earn anything at all or whether you lose. There's no guarantee of success when you start a new game but most people lose for the first few months, or year, many abandon the idea without ever becoming profitable. I just don't want you get your expectations too high.

Wow this topic blew up since I last logged on. But what a refreshing place compared to most of the internet, genuine accurate advice from so many people actually doing it rather than making out they do.

Don't lose heart, trading is a massive and fascinating subject far deeper than you might think and it'll keep you entertained for as many years as you want. It's not easy money though, but treat the job seriously and it could pay what a serious job pays.

Hi. I've been self-employed as a trader for nearly 13 years

I don't make as much money as I did. Perhaps that's because I'm older and have become stuck in my ways.....maybe I'm less flexible, or my trading style isn't as successful!! Perhaps trading has just become more difficult??

I used to make about £50k per year, but am now taking home anything between £25-28k

However, I recently turned 50. I don't give a shit about reduced income, just as long as I'm still paying my way
I've been here too long to do a normal job now. I am literally unemployable

My advice is to give it a shot.
Scalping is not similar to matched betting though. The only risk with matched betting is getting accounts closed down. With trading there is always risk as you won't get bets matched simultaneously

Stay here. People will help you progress

so im definately into this for the long run, at least 3 years i think. as primitive as my plan is would you guys see any issues with/ potential pitfalls.
intend to "test" an automated stratagey (minimum stakes) that i believe to be profitable for a year. After the year increase the stake to the point i belive the balance can absorb the variance. hopefully rinse and repeat. (always keeping an eye on it/ trying to learn other markets while automating)
quite eye opening seeing what your earning through this letiss. peters greens were never gonna be obtainable for myself
im thinking about the amount of work you guys put into this and how to "rota" my self.
my current record keeping needs to be more in depth and i realise alot of my time will be adding more usefull data to my p+l. my question is do you "full timers" / "pro" traders manually add usefull data/ use the excel sheet fnction or fully commit to buying and parsing the historcal data from betfair? thank you for continued support, and the occasional meme

A single strategy? A year? I test and tune stake variations on couple hundred strategies daily.

If you go down the automation route (recommended) you will need data, time is too slow to rely completely on live testing (imho) but live is obviously the most valuable.

Don't pay full price for historical data (email betfair) or better still collect your own.
