Hi
I was just looking at a post by Superfrank who had been trading Gold today and also a recent post by JimRobbo asking about LMAX..

I was wondering if there was something out there that had the "Look and Feel" of trading with the ladder that we use on Betfair each day.
Like many of you, I expect, I have just got so used to placing, dragging dropping orders etc, to the point that is just feels like second nature.
I have tried Forex, but it just doesn't "feel" right somehow.

I thought I would start this post to see what else you trade (and particularly the platforms you use) and any key learnings you have.

For what it's worth, I dabbled on the Forex market (dummy account) and did very well then just when I thought that I had cracked it, the fake P&L almost vanished in an instance! The prices move relatively slowly on Betfair whereas on the Forex, they can move at the speed of light!

Thanks
Peter

Hi Peter,

I started this thread on futures trading a while ago but not much interest so far viewtopic.php?f=35&t=2768.

Futures can be traded on a ladder just like in BA - you just trade in contracts (lots), which have varying values depending on the market, rather than cash amounts.

If you'd like any more info then PM me your email address.

Regards,
SF.

Yes, but wasn't that due to some experimental trading on your part? :)

Would you not agree, though, that sometimes the market can turn around extremely quickly and strongly on Betfair too?

And at least with Forex, you can have a stoploss in place to protect yourself from getting stung too badly by sudden moves.

If anyone's interested in Forex, I'd recommend having a look at the links here: viewtopic.php?f=35&t=3785. The guy behind the documents is a successful Forex trader, and trades purely mechanical methods (which can be purchased on his website) using the 5 and 15 minute timeframes.

Thanks Frank,
I'll have a look at that, more curious than anything. Always good to be an early adopter. (Wish I had been on here five years earlier!)

Hi Jeff, yes I did get a little carried away, at one point I thought I was Gordon Gekko! I had visions of holidaying on Necker Island with some dark dusky maiden handing me cold beer and wafting me with a palm branch!! (mind you the missus may have had something to say about that!)
