Attempting to pay by phone, but had forgotten her password. So I stood, fuming, while she reset her password. Fecking just get your credit card out. Streuth!
The most annoying thing about these twats is that they're unapologetic and blissfully unaware that they're holding everybody up. Clearly they're not in any hurry themselves but don't realise the rest of us have things to get on with!
I've got a great idea for a method of payment with pieces of paper and metal discs called 'Cash'.

1.You don't have to pay 100s for device to dispense them.
2.Works where there's no electricity or phone signal.
3.Hacker proof beyond about 3ft.
4.Transactions invisible to the tax man.

I'm looking for £40 for 0.0001% of the business.
   Well said!

Unfortunately there is also the annoying idiot that thwarts Shaun's idea of using paper and metal disks as substitutes ... they wait until all their goods have been checked out and bagged and are told the cost and then and only then do they start to search for their purse/wallet under all the shopping they have piled on top!!

You order a delivery of timber from Buildbase for 8:30am and 3pm it's still not here. I've got 10m of concrete arriving tomorrow afternoon so I'll be doing shuttering till gone midnight at this rate...if it ever arrives!!!!!

But to maintain univeral balance my lighter has just come back from being serviced and it's now perfect again. Good job because I'm getting through more fags than usual waiting for bl**dy Buildbase to show up.

Come on Shaun, you (and I) are both long enough in the tooth to know you never order a perishable item until the prep has been completed! Yes the service is crap but we have to expect crap and manage their crap!

Part rant part question...

I went to lodge a cheque this morning and the quick lodge machine wasn't working, so had to go to the counter where the teller told they couldn't accept the cheque because the issuing company hadn't dated it. She said the issuer would have to write in the date but because it was issued from a company based in the UK and its not like I could drive there she said I'd have to ask for the cheque to be re-issued.

At this point she probably saw how my brain was working and told me I couldn't just write in the date myself, so I went to a different branch of the same bank, wrote the date in myself and lodged it in a quick lodge machine.

I've never had this problem before, I'm pretty sure I've cashed cheques in the past that had no date on them and I know I've written some myself and didn't put a date in. Anybody else ever had this issue?

I've never written or received a cheque without a date. FFS, there aren't many fields on a cheque, it's like filling in a betting slip and forgetting the time of the race.

Cheques automatically expire after 6 months so the date is important.

You can't trust anyone in the supply chain anymore, no wonder everything we produce in this country is either expensive or crap or usually both. Concrete order safely delayed and timber delivery tomorrow now, busted crane on the truck apparently. I then tried to add TWO(2) 6x2s to the order and I'm told the truck is full. ffs  mmmm I wonder how 4.8m timbers would travel on the roofrack of a 4.8m car, probably ok until it all got sideways down the High St :)

(Before you comment Alex, yes it's a Range Rover. Scruffy old and hardworking with that comforting smell of dog, so I had to get a car like that too)

When I was a cashier for NatWest many many moons ago we were told that it was an offence for us and/or the customer to fill in missing dates unless it was the customer cashing their own cheques.
