Stake determined by comfort zone - why not that one? Whatever position size makes you unbreakable mentally and emotionally, I think the rest is less relevant.

Besides 2 pound stakes for the newbies, since they can't properly manage their position with that, depending on trading approach 2 pounds is often too one-dimensional with one entry and exit bet and they force themselves to make final decisions, so they don't learn how to manage bigger positions later.

I wouldn't choose either of the three. When the price drops below 2.0, the fact that 1.99 comes before 1.98 and can easily be bypassed is no reason for doubling stakes. Book percentage isn't a bad choice. Having £50 at 2.0, £25 at 4.0, £5 at 10.0, etc.

Isn't that the same as option 2, stake determined by tick size?

I thought that was #3. Liability. :)

And +1 to kai's comment. Min amounts aren't realistic. It reinforces this open/close mentality and doesn't allow people to naturally increase/decrease their position, and/or take a little bit of profit to move the breakeven away and get some breathing space.

 Yes it is in the example I gave, but otherwise no. At odds of 1.99, tick size would be £100 whereas book percentage would be £50.25. Book percentage is a smooth curve whereas tick size takes the form of steps, where you half/double your stake when you reach a crossover.

Liability is slightly different in that it doesn't include your stake, but I suppose it's much the same, just personal choice between the two.

Thanks for the replies guys, some good suggestions.
I previously hadn't considered the book % staking as i'd always had the legacy menu turned on and the book % wasn't shown as an option on the main screen.
£1 tick size was how I first started out but when the price was under evens and the stake was £100 I just couldn't bring myself to put that much into the market (even though I knew I wasn't actually risking the full amount).
