I wish matches would start at 5-minute intervals so I can amend errors in my bot and fire it up on the next match.

Ouch. For Chelsea. Double penalty. Assuming LFC score.

Nailed on red for me.

Was just thinking before that happened we'd be lucky to go in just 1 down, been awful for most of that half. And so have the crowd!

Wank. LiVARpool strikes again

Penalty, but that red is soft! Killed the game now.

VAR's go nothing to do with it, this rule existed before VAR. If a player handles the ball and stops it going in the net its a red card.

The double jeopardy rule only counts if its a foul not a handball.

Not sure we even deserved a point out of that game. Very lucky to get back into it and then couldn't break down 10 men in 45 minutes.

Flashbacks of last season... can't break teams down and players just standing still around the box. I don't see us challenging for the title on that performance.

Shocking performance but to be expected, it's where Liverpool are at their weakest. And Chelsea do it best for me, better than Atletico, so played right into their strength and they should have won as well. This type of match came too soon, nobody is sharp enough yet.

Chelsea look really good. LFC looked bereft of ideas how to break them down.
Thats what I don't understand. The pen came from dynamic pressure. Then 10 v 11 we were rubbish.
Perhaps we should recognise Robertson, Hendo et al are still trying to reach maximum without getting injured again.
Now I've calmed down I'll take 1-1 v Chelsea.

Hate to say it but if that was City against 10 man for 45 minutes they would have scored a couple.

I watch other teams and think X,Y,Z really aren't playing for the club.
I have rarely felt that about LFC and only isolated individuals (that I can't even remember, they're so rare).
And this is no different, they're going through some sort of growing pains. Or perhaps it's Klopp's departure next year.
The change in his image - teeth, specs (now ditched) might suggest pressure from FSG, or it might suggest Klopp making himself more bankable for one of the big teams.
Not that I believe any team is greater than LFC, but you know what I mean. :-)

That's their ideal scenario, they specialize overloads and have multiple options for the last pass. Liverpool annoyingly need space to build attacks, had some in the first half but barely any in the second, plus nobody can properly shoot from the outside.

A big striker is the last piece for me, the squad has everything else, someone to unlock a stubborn defense like that and to make the difference, a proper target for those amazing crosses, like the Haaland winner yesterday for Dortmund at the very end of the match. Very lucky that Tuchel couldn't wait a year and had to get someone else in instead, since Dortmund didn't even want to discuss a transfer this summer, so he's still up for grabs next season.

Would have loved to see Ox come in for Elliott at HT, the only person in the squad who can bang one in from outside the box, Thiago only slows the build-up even more so, sad to see Klopp get so outplayed tactically. And sad to see they couldn't get any sort of pressure on Chelsea later, to force a goal somehow.

I don't think its a case of players not playing for the club, I don't think we have enough creativity. There was very little movement off the ball today once we got to the edge of Chelsea's box. I don't think any of the front 4 are going to get more creative as the season goes on. We really needed an attacker in the transfer window but doesn't look like we'll get one.

Don't think Klopp has his eyes somewhere else, he has a contract until 2024. He's not an Ancelotti or Benitez who just go from club to club, I think the project has to be right for him. I think he'll have his eyes on the Germany job when his contract ends. The German FA have been chasing him for years and coincidentally Hansi Flick's Germany contract also runs to 2024.

Interesting thing about his new image... I was watching Young Boys in the Champions League the other night and David Wagner has also ditched the specs! :)

I think Klopp and this team has reached their peak unless some new blood comes in. Only the other day I was saying we would go close but based on that performance I'm not so sure.

Peak years for many of the key players and you can't really get an upgrade on anyone, besides 1-2 spots in the midfield. And the striker position :)

Klopp expects Konate to replace Matip later on so the upgrade is already in place for that.

Do enough of them still have the hunger though?

30 years waiting and all that is a lot of pressure, then delivering on it. It's a big effort to reset and start again.
