Have a look at this passmap against Chelsea yesterday, it's just crying for a proper center forward. Firmino is occupying the same position as Fabinho, if anyone was playing with 10 men yesterday it was Liverpool lmao. As a false 9 he's supposed to create space for others but in these situations ends up being completely useless and invisible.Trader Pat wrote: ↑Sat Aug 28, 2021 8:54 pm
Do enough of them still have the hunger though?
30 years waiting and all that is a lot of pressure, then delivering on it. It's a big effort to reset and start again.
Look how thick the lines are on the right side, thicker than Arteta's eyebrows, it's all so stale and predictable and easy to defend against. Klopp seems to be experimenting by trying to overload that flank (like City does) with Harvey Elliott which almost worked a few times but no final pass yet and so far it just means less Trent overlaps or crossing opportunities. All that world class crossing ability seems wasted without a real target in there.
Pep seems fed up with playing strikerless football as well with Ferran Torres or KDB etc in front and tried to go for Kane instead. Tuchel as well has made it clear he wanted Haaland or Lukaku for his approach. Strikerless football might very well be the future but these top managers still prefer playing a real striker for now.
