Y, my P&L was a mess on that race by the look of it. Hope I can make some of that back.

Were not all bets going in or something else? Just wanted to try and establish if it was a problem I'd seen before?
It wasn't just one race it happened on. The issue was happening for an hour or more.

It wasn't on all bets. For me there were periods where it was others where it was fine others where some went in some didn't (appear to).

It was backs and lays.

It was polling and streaming.

It affected all customers around the world on all markets.

It appeared bets weren't being placed or appeared and almost instantly vanished.

The bets would then re-appear some time later. But it was only then that they seemed to enter the system and potentially be matched, but for example place a bet pre-race it could show up inplay.

The issue happened on both the API and website.

It has been seen before, at least on UK markets.

The API status page showed no issues.

Betfair took a long time to post anything about there being issues on Twitter.

I hope the losses weren't to bad, at elast it sounds like you were limited to one race.

Despite getting thumped on one race, it feels like I've dodged a bullet there. Still at a loss, but could have been worse. May recover a fair bit of the loss if I trade well from there on in.

I would look at it like that, it could have been a lot worse if it was limited to one race for you as it affected quite a few races.

Zaaki would appear to not be the next Winx or Black Caviar.

Looks like a few on track at Caulfield .. not many Randwck
Is the footage you have access to the same as the live footage at the track? I haven't been to many race meetings, but I went to Recliffe last week and the race was over when on TV they were just coming into the sprint lane and someone had Bet Trader open on the finish line.

Until August last year, I still made plenty of money betting up until 100m of the finish post. Now I get smashed once they get into the straight ~ 400m. There's been big changes to market efficiency. Someone who bets from the TV has margins squeezed.
I don't know whats available on course.

Its well known some super traders have faster feeds.

Uk racecourses big displays have long been delayed - to limit facetimers - so, maybe Aus gone same way.

Once people get on track they start anticipating activity and where they are willing to back a winner slowly slips further down the track.

In the early days in the UK, people were waiting till the winner was certain and then you saw people trying to anticipate that and then people trying to anticipate the anticipators until you could argue it tipped the other way.

Outside of Australia I don't think anyone ever thought it was given its form. Stoute is a pretty good trainer ;) so doubt he left much for an upstart trainer to work on.

The silence when it crossed the line was deafening.

Peter would you mind telling us if that was also Morphetville R1? That was the one that cost me a packet!

Interestingly the guy I spoke to on the phone at Betfair seemed to think there was a decent chance that race would be addressed, although he didn't specify the action taken. He could of course, have just been trying to get me off the phone.

Cards - I know you didn’t ask me and I can’t speak for what happened to Peter. But on this forum and on other places lots of reports about api problems and they did seem to start around about morph race 1 - but impacted lots of other early races.

PDC mentions above in his view it was a whole of betfair issue across all markets.

That race and the following three, at least. Will have to dig later today for the exact details.

Thanks Peter.

No worries gazuty, thanks. I'm moving on now and accepting the loss :)

I will however update here in the remote chance Betfair get back to me with anything of interest.

Ask at least for a goodwill gesture payment, worse they can say is no but often they will give you something.

I emailed them and included a screenshot which showed the bets and the back bets I tried to rescue the situation that failed. Guy on the phone said screenshots would be highly beneficial but they would get back to me in 24-48 hours.

But yeah I'm just assuming it is a loss now.

Peter, gazuty and other bot guys - Do I understand correctly that "Orders" part was fkd up for some races, but the response from bet placement/cancelation worked as usual? It's all I can get from my logs investigation because they look perfectly fine - absolutely no errors from any api part (markets data, bets data, and others (hb, keepalive)), I guess that's because I never rely on "Orders" part of the api solely. But what was happening in this "Orders" part exactly? Was it some lag in their system or did they mess up order.status or order.sizeremaining data?
Just trying to understand what happened from more in-depth technical point of view.
