Yep. A modest effort from me. About 1/3 of my best ever effort.

As you say Peter - treacle.

Yeah I struggled to get filled. But as you say the other races have been good and for me have more than made up for the poor result on the Cup. Hopefully pick up a good bit more in the next couple of hours and could still be a record Melbourne Cup day.

Good to see Very Elleegant win. One (of the many) things I like about Australian racing is you really get to know the horses as they run the horse so often down under, in the UK you might be lucky to see a horse run a handful of times on the flat. Happy to see J Mac get it and a good run from Andrew Baldings runner Spanish Mission.

Peter - after you have had your bowl of Minestrone soup could you do a short write up on what you find, if anything, in the data please.

It seems the general feeling was that we have had better Melbourne Cups from a trading view.

Also fair play to Betfair, the site didn't seem to struggle at all.

Happy to see J Mac win and also for Chris Waller, Verry Elegant went straight into my black book when she won her first race, what a mare

MC matched bet turnover £3.3m vs £3.45m last year. Best I've seen was £4.17m

Finding the post MC markets excellent, much better than my notes said in previous years. Just pulled in my result of the day in R8 at Flemington.

Very. But I am not complaining one bit.

Just topped my previous best result for the session in R9 at Flemington and now onto an all time best for a Melbourne Cup day, despite my poor Melbourne Cup race result.

Amazing how much racing is on and yet it is all running seamlessly with races going off bang to time again and again.

Australia really does show the world how to do it when it comes to getting races off to time!

Even Randwick has been starting near jump time. They've realised it's not all about them today.

They did threaten early on but got their act together sharpish thankfully.

Gutted Flemington has finished, it got better and better as the session went on for me. Best result in the lucky last.

Hopefully Thursday is at least half as good.

The last was like printing money.

But I do wonder what’s been going on.

Oh well, hope things are much freeer going forward.

Maybe people chasing and/or drunk after a long day on the sauce?

Thursdays are usually poor. But I do wonder what we will find now.
