I blew my ears big time with tinnitus a few years ago, that's why I don't mind spending a few quid on something that sounds good at a moderate volume! Used to have headphones on full whack under my ear defender's to keep me awake at work at night. Clearly intelligent

I got suckered in buying these https://www.markgrantcables.co.uk/uk/sp ... erminated/ShaunWhite wrote: ↑Tue Oct 26, 2021 5:05 pmBtw don't get suckered into expensive cables. You can't beat std house electric cable that's about 50p a meter.
Can't tell any difference to the free cables they sent me
for what it’s worth Derek I actually used to work in a HiFi shop, back in the day anything from what we used to call “boom boxes”, cheap sub £200~£300 JVC, Kenwood, Aiwa mini/midi HiFi’s up to the dead expensive esoteric sort of thing, my advice is if you like the sound that’s coming out of what ever device you’re listening to then it’s probably the right one for you.
It’s a shame that HiFi shops have diminished over the years, as staff we used to get the chance to take equipment home & try it out with other stuff, like an Audiolab Amp with Rogers Speakers, a Quad CD Player with an Arcam Amp et al, people used to spend a pretty penny on equipment back then.. those were the days, a real enjoyable job

I want this!
They'd have to be sonically orgasmic for me to buy them (if I could). They're flipping hideous!
I like speakers to be visually minimalist as possible, but sound great.
Each to their own eh!
A friend of a friend back in the day had some electrostatic speakers that were each the dimensions of a door.
Did make a great noise though.
they were probably Quad ESL63’s if memory serves, they sounded greatgreenmark wrote: ↑Thu Nov 11, 2021 9:23 pmThey'd have to be sonically orgasmic for me to buy them (if I could). They're flipping hideous!

A mate of mine worked in a hifi shop and he was so astonished at the subjectivity of what sounds great or rubbish.Korattt wrote: ↑Thu Nov 11, 2021 10:03 pmthey were probably Quad ESL63’s if memory serves, they sounded greatgreenmark wrote: ↑Thu Nov 11, 2021 9:23 pmThey'd have to be sonically orgasmic for me to buy them (if I could). To the point that he just gave up with his own opinion and just tried to match a customer with what they liked.
Those dolls look hot! And photography is a good excuse for having them. It must take some bottle to take one of those out in public for a photoshoot.Trader Pat wrote: ↑Thu Nov 11, 2021 10:22 pmFor the love of God please don't tell me this is you Derek!
