Hello, I hear people talk about trading with big money but doesnt often the problem arise that there is no money to be matched. ex:
lay $1k on the draw, a goal is scored and you wish to back, lets say $900 to green up but the volume is gone before u can make the bet and ur stuck under water?
Is this a problem on higher stakes? Im just playing really small stakes atm but if sometime in the future I will afford the bigger bets this could be a problem? And if so, any way to play big but avoid the volume problem?
Cheers,
Emil

Volume can be a problem with high stakes and low liquidity. I have this problem with some of my trades but overcome it by use of a bookmaker to allow place of my offset bet. This generally assumes that the initial Lay bet was made with BF.

If you are trading a high profile match or one that is being Televised then getting stakes of £1,000 matched should not be a problem. If you are trading a match from a smaller league or another foreign league than as RG said there can be an issue closing your position due to lack of money available.
As others have said getting 1000-00 matched in match odds on a high profile games is not a big problem.
However Im not sure laying the draw and backing it after the goal is a great strategy myself
(if thats what your doing), it's probably the best known betfair trading stratagies out there and almost everyone has given it a go at some point i would have thought.
I would advice you to keep a record of all the 0-0 lay odds on the games you trade and i think you will find as i did when i tried it years ago that you will be no better off in the long run than if you would have just layed 0-0.

I have to agree with Freddy, I don't like laying the draw and waiting for a goal. You are starting from a losing position and that position just gets bigger. If you have a game between a top team and a mediocre team and the latter scores first, it comes as a shock and the draw price doesn't always move that much. I stopped using that strategy many years ago.
Thanks for all the great replies! Im scouting alot for games that seems profitable for laying the draw but I hear what you are saying, Any special soccer-trading that you guys would recommend? Im on a low bankroll (1000:-) (about 100 pounds i spose)
and the minimum bet for SEK is 30.

Emil

I Lay AW or I LAY the draw, I use those 2 strategies when I trade in play. When I trade preoff I usually find as much Info I can on both teams and average odds of past matches. You can have a look on this 2 websites. Football news are also important..English, Spanish, German, Italian, French...etc etc

I tryed for weeks to lay 0.10p on each selected draw, around 200 matches per week. I have an account I use only for new strategies. My P&L on that account was down £3-£4 everage per week. After 12 weeks of recording I came up with a solution which turned the £3-£4 down In to £9 to £11 up per week, for 12 weeks. It took long time and hard work but, from august 2011 I can bet on all matches available on BF, increasing the lay bet to £1 ( fingers crossed). I am trying to be more organized and concetrate the big cash only on big games. I will let you know after 12 weeks what I have achieved...
