thanks. I just identified the problem. It was my router which might be on the way to the bin...

What router do you have? It is always worth getting a decent one that can handle being pounded!

I am in the market for a new router - any suggestions or what to look for?

Hi Andy

Nice to see you back after your break. I know you are in this full time like me so I advise Draytek Vigor 2820n

I use Draytek products all the time and they are brilliant. Can only think of one fault in over 10 years. If you don't need wireless then use one without the n suffix.

I like the easy QoS function that allows me to guarantee I get at least 60% of the bandwidth whilst the kids etc fight for the rest.

This unit has a great firewall and more features than you can shake a stick at but it is so reliable and fast. You can also have ADSL and cable as a fail over option.

If you'd like to know more then let me know

I've got a Sweex wireless router with the cheapest, slowest Virgin Media package (which I think is 10MB from what I remember from the last bill). I get around 30ms - 60ms response times and the router is about 4 years old now! Cost me £19.99!

a tp-link 150mb/s wireless. Used to have a dlink lb604 with 2 wans (load balancing router), and the oldest that I had was a netgear.

Was it just me, or was Betfair out of action for about 30 seconds at about 19:20?
