Betfair's Customer Commitment

So betfair have now issued a "customer commitment".
This obviously means they realise they are in trouble!

The section on "Product & Technology (We'll foucs on the quality and reliability of our services)" stood out to me.

They have set a target uptime of 99.9% for the exchange. I come from a hosting background and any company offering only 99.9% uptime guarantee would be laughed at. Most companies these days aim for 99.999%.

Uptime of 99.9% means they are effectively allowing for ~45 minutes downtime a month.
Expect more outages.

I work in I too. 99.9% is a joke. Five 9's availability is easily achieved using high available clusters

Bet you could achieve 99.9% on a bog standard laptop!! Talk about "Aim low fall short!" they're not exactly putting any stretch goals in place are they!!! :D
