Starting with the league averages for the Swiss Super League it seems that they have more than their fair share of goals.
Looking at the "First" tab on the league page this gives all the stats for first goals scored, which is exactly what we need for a foundation for the research into the probability of at least 1 goal being scored in the first half.
The following table shows that FC Basel, on average score first in the 33rd minute when playing at home (St Gallen have a better FG (first Goal) ave time of 22 minutes but they are away) They also score their first goal in the first half 71% of the time
St Gallen on the other hand, when they are playing away score their opening goal, on average, 30 minutes into the game and score first 83% of the time in the first half. I then looked at the Opening goals conceded and discover that St Gallen have conceded first 100% of the time ( or all of the goals scored against them first) have all been in the first half
I have then looked at the first half table which is the last piece of criteria in previous posts and see that FC Basel have played 23 games and have 22 goals to their name in the first half and when playing at home their record is even better having played 11 home games and scoring 13 times. On the other side of the coin, St Gallen like to conceded goals in the first half when playing away having played 11 and conceded 13 (second only to Sion and Luzern)
Out of 11 games played at home only 4 games have been 0-0 at half time for FC Basel
Out of 11 games played by St Gallen away only 1 game has been 0-0 at Half time
Therefore I will change my mind on the no bet decision and plum for this game this evening.
Keep them crossed
