I hope someone can answer a couple of questions about automation and the logs it produces
I am running a file tonight on the championship games and in some of them it might trigger into a suspended market
My question are thus
  • Will the logs record the misfire or will they remain blank?
In a gappy market what parameter is most likely to get matched second best or best and will still give a good indication of the odds at the time of triggering?
Any help is appreciated

If you don't want a rule to trigger while a market is suspended just untick the 'allow rule to trigger in suspended markets' box on the General tab of that rule

What is it you are wanting to do in the gappy market, ie, place a bet, capture the best prices at the time?

Hi Dallas
It is for this particular post
"Going completely off piste for this thread and down a bit of a black run this has been bugging me all night as to what would actually happen and what the odds reach after a certain amount of in-play time.
To this end I have done a quick worksheet listing the teams playing tonight in the championship and the relevent OGS times for when they play at home or away
Avg OGS 8 March championship.png
Avg OGS 8 March championship.png (10.58 KiB) Viewed 3 times
I have then made an automation file to use on the "First Half Goals 0.5 " market which places a £2.00 back bet 27 minutes and 15 seconds minutes into in play time on the OVER 0.5 goals . (32.25 - 5 mins) at the second best price as the markets don't seem to be awash with cash at the moment. I know that this might skew the data on the prices a fraction but it might give an indication as to what to expect.
I am running this in practice mode and have posted the file for anyone to try alternative timings. You just need to adjust the trigger time in the rule trigger time box on the general tab when you open it to edit

The full automation file is below
Soccer-IP- C'Ship 8 Mar Back Opening Goal Avg Time -5 mins.baf"

This came about by a casual remark about backing the over 0.5 goals in the first half goals market instead of laying the draw by thepressure
I just thought it might be worth looking at
I would want a record of the misfire if that makes any sense at all

What would happen if the automation did trigger into a suspended - or finished market?
And I am not ever sure if the Over 0.5 goals in the first half goals market is gappy I am just assuming it might be because of the severe lack of cash matched so far (2pm the afternoon of the evening kick off)🤷‍♂️

The bet would just be ignored by Betfair.

Gappy markets are identifiable by the overrounds and/or the difference between the back and lay overround, one of a number of ways to check if a market is fully formed.

Thanks for that
After thinking about this a little more I suppose , at the outset, I am just looking at what the odds are at the time of firing and would the bet be matched or not.
This being the case do you think I should leave the file to get a second best price or ammend it to fire at the best price possible

The only thing that matters in betting is getting the best possible value. If you're getting matched too easily then chances are you're just prey to the hunters so you might find it's better to accept a lower matched rate than aiming to get them all filled.
