No posts have been deleted from this thread, but around a page worth of pointless off topic sniping was deleted from another that looked like it probably spilled over from here, the case in point being even those posting in it didn't realise which thread they were actually posting to
I'm sure we were all well aware of what thread we were posting to. The problem was that Putin wanted to disguise a propaganda video as "stuff to watch", otherwise nobody would watch it, though I doubt anyone watched it anyway. :D

Have a good Cheltenham Festival. Luckily it ends before next Saturday. ;)

Sorry Dallas but I don't see how sweeping things under the rug solves anything for anyone, not just here but in general.

It won't take long before James declares his support for Putin again and triggers Derek, Crazyskier, JasBarrow and whoever else was part of the deleted discussion. Not saying banning people is the solution but deleting forum content surely sends a dangerous precedent. Can't keep deleting stuff if it keeps happening, would be disrespectful to the people who took time out of their day to post.
He appears to be banned, as we saw with StellaBot it stopped the madness
That would explain it. StellaBot's posts must have been deleted leaving me wondering what he's done. :)

I'm not having that malignant attention seeker lumped in with Stella Bot who was merely eccentric.

I hope JamesG46 got a warning about his behaviour at the very least? Proclaiming proudly......
Not one for defending James but at least he only thinks like that on a Saturday. ;)

No posts have been deleted from this thread, but around a page worth of pointless off topic sniping was deleted from another that looked like it probably spilled over from here, the case in point being even those posting in it didn't realise which thread they were actually posting to

With Cheltenham coming up next week all moderators are busy trying to prepare for that so don't have the time to trawl back through multiple pages spread across different threads trying to look for what started the latest spat.
The quicker option is just to delete all the posts from a clear start point and that ensures its only the off topic stuff that gets removed

There is an option in the upper right corner which anyone can use to report a post they think breaches forum rules, we'd suggest people use this from now one that way we can who/were these flash points are originating from and take any required action rather than engaging in tit for tat arguments then dragging them across multiple unrelated threads
Alternatively if you don't want to engage with someone you can add them to your foe's list in your CP and you won't see anything he/she posts in future

Also I noticed a few references in recent posts to James visiting Peters house, I don't know where or why this has arisen and its importance but just to clarify for everyone James attended one of the 'Meet and Greet' sessions Peter hosted at his house and BA offices a few years ago, these were open to anyone to book a place on any many of the users of this forum were among those that attended one of the sessions.

Hopefully we can all get back to concentrating on trading and bring the discussion back to a civilised level and debate topics respectfully or not at all

I hope JamesG46 got a warning about his behaviour at the very least? Proclaiming proudly "I stand with Russia" and telling those on the forum who have shown even a modicum of support for Ukraine what to do with themselves by saying "Fuck those who stand with the Nazi's" is out of order.

I haven't seen that post myself and couldn't find it in a quick search just now so it was possibly in the batch that got deleted, but that's exactly the point I was trying to make, moderators don't have the time to continually trawl through every thread and scan every post let alone start jump across threads trying to track who said what and when and what it was in reply to etc

If someone see's a post they feel is offensive, shouldn't be allowed or breaches forum rules etc then just hit the report button and that will flag it to the moderators to deal with, a pattern would soon emerge and we could deal with it, but once people start replying to it and slinging insults back and forth then taking it across other threads that's when it makes it almost impossible to deal with

It wasn't a case of trying to sweep it under the rug, it was just the most time efficient way of cleaning a long running decent thread up at the time and before it was completely trashed

Pretty much what I put in my first post and reply above to Jas about people reporting the posts they feel are offensive, would cause distress to people or against any other forum rule would seem to be the simplest solution for all, we wouldn't get bogged down trying to review and clean up threads day after day and people can then just post/reply as normal (ignoring the comment they've just reported) and the thread should stay on track.

I'm sure everyone on here should be able to find something better to do than spend half the day or night re-running the same arguments with the same people, but if they can't then they could always take it offline and do it via PM.

Reports Putin's asking China for military help/equipment. If true, things are much direr for him than I thought.

Do you think the attack on Western Ukraine was inevitable?

Not sure what the fuss is about. Does it matter whether they attack east or west? It's still Ukraine. Any missiles that stray over the border into Poland will be quite serious and could draw NATO into the conflict.

Well possibly, but west ukraine is strategically very different to the rest.
I understand that sounds dismissive of the suffering so far, but the reality is that if Russia decide to go all out, what Ukraine or Nato can do is pretty complex.
We can only hope that common sense prevails and they come to a compromise.
It ain't difficult. Talk or kill each other. John Lennon must be spiining in his grave.

I read earlier the US national security advisor sent a warning to Russia that if they 'attack' 'fires upon' or 'take a shot' at a NATO territory it would trigger article 5 and a 'full force' response from NATO

I guess that could be heard more in coming days if Russia start to target western area's that even a stray missile or accident overshot of a rocket and it won't be taken as accidental

On better news I also saw a report around tea time that 'Russia' is saying substantial progress has been made in peace talks and a joint position could soon be reached

I've learned never to take to much notice of any reports but really hope there is some truth and substance in that later on

I find it remarkable the amount of intelligence the 5 eyes group have been getting. Russia seems to have more leaks than downing street. They must have spies at the very highest level or someone has been tipping them off. How would they know that Russia asked China for help before the invasion, phone tapping ?

I am starting to think that Russia is not the super power that everyone thought, its troops and generals have been getting their backsides kicked in various areas. When was the last time a modern military force lost 3 generals on the battle ground and had troops getting out of their tanks and walking home in less than 2 weeks of operations ?
