The Ruble has recovered, why? Because the market knows these sanctions don’t mean nothing… the market is always right isn’t it guys?

The market doesn’t care what Derek thinks or posts… the market discounts all unknowns. Don’t be a Derek, stay subjective.

Yep Russia has all the resources as does China, it's amazing anyone believes that sanctions from the west are going to make Russia suffer, what are they going to miss out on... McDonalds? Somehow I think having oil, gas, metals, timber and wheat will come in more useful at being self-sufficient.

You have to admit that MSM mind control is such an effective tool at programming people what to think. It looks like they have the perfect excuse and distraction for the financial collapse in the west and most people will just lap it up as justification for losing their money to inflation due to the failures of the west
Yes, but they can't sell it, can they. It's not just burgers that they're missing out on, Rolls Royce engines, spare parts for aircraft and industrial machinery, inability to service their passenger aircraft that have been leased by other countries, etc.

MSM can't control minds because we're allowed not to believe it. CT controls your mind because you're programmed to believe whatever appears completely bonkers to sane people.
Really Derek? Please, use your intellectual ability to explain how Western sanctions stop China or India trading with Russia & how global corporations can’t set up subsidiary companies in those countries.
If 90% of Betfair customers closed their account it wouldn't stop Betfair from trading with the other 10% but it would still cripple Betfair.

Despite my intellectual superiority over you that you acknowledge, albeit sarcastically, I'm not a legal expert. I don't know how long it would take to set up a subsidiary company or what the legal restrictions are.

When I first installed Windows 98 I must have been one of the few people in the world to read the EULA (end user's licencing agreement) from start to finish. Boring stuff, but there were two things I remember from it. One was that Windows 98 is not designed for controlling critical equipment such as life-support machines. The other was that you agree not to give or sell a copy of Windows 98 to anybody in North Korea or any other country that falls under the US embargo.

If Microsoft (to protect themselves) can make it clear in a EULA that you can't sell to North Korea I would presume the barristers that drafted the sanctions-related legislation would do the same in far more detail to make it difficult for such global companies to trade indirectly with Russia. It doesn't sound difficult. But as I said, I'm not a legal expert so you're asking the wrong person. :)

The market is definitely correct, a ruble is always worth what a ruble is trading at, but don't confuse the market being right with you being right regarding your reasons for the recovery!

As well as not being a legal expert I'm also not a financial expert. But I'm sure there's a multitude of reasons why the Ruble has recovered, if it has recovered? I can only take your word for it, but given that you think Putin's played his cards right and is doing a great job, and "recovered" is an inaccurate description in financial terms, it's not even worth discussing why it's recovered.

You don’t have to take my word for it Derek, just look at the market… it isn’t some myth or “edge”.

So the first part of the above quote is true, as is the last, in this particular case.

Don't assume that a plate full of shit must taste nice just because it's sitting in between two gourmet meals cooked by a Masterchef.

I never planned on making a meal out of reality, it is what it is. Like it or not.

Funny that despite you not being a legal expert you come to an assumption that companies can’t sell their product to Russia… I thought I was asking the right person considering your assumption.

Wow, the pro-Putin forum brigade is out in full force today! I thought the victory parade wasn't until May?

In other news, Russian troops steal the humanitarian aid from the Mariupol-bound Red Cross convoy, because apparently they need it more.

Honestly, the jokes are basically writing themselves at this point.

The Russian army reminds me of the Argentinian army back in 1982.

No ifs buts or maybes. Just rubbish. Full stop.

But it should be of no surprise really given that Russia got its arse kicked by the Mujahedin between 1979 and 1989, most of whom were on horseback. Afghanistan was littered with destroyed Helicopter Gunships and Tanks. Sound familiar.

Today their troops are using field dressings issued back before the above war started in 1978.

Just like Russia and Putin, out of date.
