Ante-post trading - market suspended announcements

Please can someone explain how 'Market Suspended' announcements occur before the off? As a consequence the BA charts are automatically cleared and restarted which breaks the trends and patterns continuity. Is there a way to overcome this discontinuity and retain the chart patterns etc?
