People moaning that they can't afford to switch the heating on. FFS - you should be rejoicing that it's April!

A balmy 4C here heading to zero until 8am and then a basking 7C peak tomorrow (tommorow?).

It's gonna be -3 where I am tonight, 8 tomorrow but hell, 14/9 on Monday and that's pretty much winter over.

Unless the jet stream swerves south and sucks cold northern air down. But I hope you are right. My In-house-display for the smart meter is showing £2.86 and I only turned the heating on around 4pm with a 13C room temperature. I'm such a hedonist.

13 degrees?? I used to set my thermostat at about that when I lived in a flat with single-glazed drafty windows but now my heating wouldn't even switch on to maintain that temperature. My TV and laptops would probably produce enough heat.

My sister has her stat set to 20C. And has one window open almost permanently and others as necessary to "keep the air fresh". Meantime the meter is going berserk. But, hey! Thermostat settings are trivial right now, sorry I raised it.

I can tolerate chatting with neighbours but since when did being asked for a lift to an appointment and back become acceptable?

I can't help but feeling guilty for saying no but have too many of my own problems going on to extend my charity beyond friends and family. Not to mention it disrupts my sacred trading time which people like to assume means you are doing nothing.

Other neighbours gave in to the requests so it's not a one-off

Just used the Flash mop with disposable pads, as advertised on TV with the Brian Blessed voice over. flipping useless. Each pad cleans about 4 or 5 square metres before drying up, 3 pads just to clean my living room. The pads may be cheap but it's a pain in the arse changing them!

I thought you'd be the type of fella who had a cleaner who came round a couple of times a week. If you're willing to shell out a few quid, you can even hire naked ones.

all I do is vacuum our hard floors then go around with those oversized floor disinfectant wipes, works a treat.. then go over it every once in a while with a steam cleaning mop thingy, not sure I’d ever buy a Dyson again though, having said that we did buy an early one, such a pain to empty it & with the missus’ hair it’s a bugger to keep the roller clean

All I know is tomatoes and potatoes don't go together or follow a previous season's crop. If you don't know where to put your potatoes, Lidl sells a 4-pot stack for growing potatoes, herbs, etc.
