They've already paid bets at the 29 BSP so can't change it now?

I've always assumed the bigger the market turnover the more likely BSP will correlate to off prices. Does anyone remember what price it was trading at near the off?

Is this definitely correct? How is that even possible?
Betfair will publish the full SP overnight I think.
The large number of bets at SP must have had an effect. I'm wondering if they will manage some creative accounting.
6k in back bets and 89k in lay bets does seem an awful lot of SP backing for what was a 50/1 shot

Doesn't give people much confidence in the SP

Do you think the SP spike could have anything to do with B365 hedging their position after offering 80/1?

I hope they got burned

Bet365 never hedge apparently. Lots of arbors/matched bettors would have loved those bet boosts though. Bookies place book massively overbroke with the extra places and offers. Lay the boosted win price off on the exchange, then you’ve got a massive value bet on the place side which you can either hedge, keep or have as a free bet.

In hindsight, the only way I could have considered the winner was the record of the amateur jockey (now retired) over the national fences in other races. From the off it had a poor position, and then track craft, good jumping, got him into the race.

I think they were running a 150% book on the Grand National, so never a need to hedge. Generally speaking only the favourites risk exposure for a bookie.

150% isn't too bad for the National. I've known it getting close to 170% in years gone by.
