Betfair Account Restrictions & closed accounts - Getting them removed and accounts reopened

UPDATE: Got a call from BF HQ and they wanted security info etc and they said they’d get back to me in the next couple of days.

That's the hardest part done then I suppose, to actually get someone over there to have a look at your account. Keep us posted please.

Last year, you registered to hear more about developments on the Gambling Commission’s work setting requirements to identify customers at risk of harm and to take action.

The Gambling Commission has recently published the remote customer interaction consultation response, on the ways in which operators must track indicators of harm and take action to support customers. We have introduced new, stronger rules to ensure online gambling businesses do more to identify and protect consumers from harm which will come into effect in September 2022. This does not include the topic of affordability.

We have committed to a further consultation on this topic, to include proposals to tackle three key risks:

customers who are particularly financially vulnerable
significant unaffordable losses in a short period of time
significant unaffordable losses over a sustained period of time.
The Commission received approximately 13,000 responses to the consultation and call for evidence. All responses to the proposals were carefully considered to ensure proportionate, robust changes were made.

Thankfully affordability seems to have taken a back seat because that's the hard one to prove. Although "financially l vulnerable" is vague. Otherwise it doesn't seem too bad, mainly about protecting losers.

Who makes the money from these big losers? ie.who might this affect from the winner perspective...?

patterns of spend
time spent gambling
gambling behaviour indicators
customer-led contact
use of gambling management tools

Time spent gambling could be a problem for bots especially if you hardly ever log off and place bets at all hours.

There's no mention of big losers, just people who can't afford to lose. And maybe that would affect the bottom line but I'd hope most people wouldn't want to make money from people who couldn't afford it. This ain't Wolf of Wall St and people do have a conscience these days I hope.

You do hear media stories of people who lose huge amounts...
but that was my point, it's not very ethical to be taking from them, so we shouldn't complain really about these checks being firmed up, seems fair really to protect.

Read - Keep your volume high at all times, or you risk challenge if your spending increases after time away.

time spent gambling
Read - Keep gambling at a consistent rate. Don't take a break or you will be challenged when you return.

use of gambling management tools
Read - Don't ever use any management tools as it will be seen as an indicator of problem gambling.

Read - Don't shop around for the best odds. Always use only one gambling site to demonstrate consistent spending.

We're all targeting those mug punters and chasers to line our own pockets. The simple fact is most of those will be the one's that can least afford it, best not think too hard about it if you want a good night's sleep.
