You either live to work or work to live. If you are lucky enough to earn good money you should spend some of it or make your life easier. You can't take it to the grave.

A lot depends on personal circumstance. You have to bear in mind that trading on betfair might not be possible forever so there's a good case for making hay while the sun shines. I wish I had the discipline and the will to trade as many races and save as much as Andy but personally I get way too bored and need a few good holidays a year just to save myself going loco!

You should always make the most of opportunities presented to you but nothing is worth your sanity! So it's always worth striking a balance as well as planning for the future.

I think the surprising thing for me in this market is how many rational, capable, talented and skilled people have completely missed the opportunity.

If I make a million pounds all year long with sports trading I do not see how I can lose interest in this business. If I found a business that gives me more earning potential of sports trading, I will invest on an other person to continue my business by dividing the profits. In that case I'm gaining 1 million with new business and half million with the old business. I would do the same if I decided not to work more in my life. Some people have a business in the blood and if they work harder and better than the other is to eliminate competition and gain more than others. Those who know well the business does not build millions after millions just for fun and definitely do not leave all of a sudden unless Betfair has something to do with this. I always thought that as a customer I could have a better service from Betfair, but I always had crap in return, do not even want to imagine what will be `in the future but, if I can count on a monthly gain in sports trading I do not think of leaving the business despite betfair charges and poor service .
however, if you suddenly do not have more news from me I have not lost my interest in this business but,Betfair has closed all my accounts...

I think it goes to show the limited link between intelligence and trading performance.

I once heard traders are in the top 10% of the population in terms of intelligence, yet most lose money consistently. Given that you can more or less break even by trading randomly, that makes you wonder if their minds are working against them...

I don't read the Bible on any day of the week Tony. :)

I just remembered that quote as I once had a devout Christian landlord, and he and his wife would bring Jesus into literally just about every conversation!

I know Tony.

It's a book that's full of wisdom, but it's not on my reading list. :)
