Ukraine Crisis
Russia seems to have a knack for pissing off every nation, even those who are the nearest to being called friends. Israel has stayed neutral and refused Ukrainian requests for their Iron Dome anti-aircraft hardware and now they receive abuse from that foul-mouthed foreign secretary.

Looks like Putin is going away for a cancer operation and handing over power to Nikolai Patrushev. Apparently he is not a very nice person and much more hardline.
There is also further speculation that Putin is suffering from Parkinson’s disease too.

Where did you get that info from? If he's going in for an operation the surgeon is the most powerful person in the world and can avert nuclear catastrophe, if the anaesthetist doesn't beat him to it.Archery1969 wrote: ↑Mon May 02, 2022 10:56 pmLooks like Putin is going away for a cancer operation and handing over power to Nikolai Patrushev. I'm not sure who the bigger lunatic is, Putin or the foreign minister, Sergei Lavrov. Tough competition!

I be more worried about the guy he is handing power over too. Sounds like a west hating mad man. Probably more likely to nuke someone than Putin.

And in the news today:
RUSSIAN officers have decided to go on strike and are refusing to carry out orders, a military analyst has claimed.

I thought that the racism is to judge someone by race and not by act.Derek27 wrote: ↑Mon May 02, 2022 10:31 pmRussia seems to have a knack for pissing off every nation, even those who are the nearest to being called friends. Sorry, I was referring to the Russian government and top officials, not Russians.napshnap wrote: ↑Tue May 03, 2022 1:44 pmI thought that racism is to judge someone by race and not by act.Derek27 wrote: ↑Mon May 02, 2022 10:31 pmRussia seems to have a knack for pissing off every nation, even those who are the nearest to being called friends. This is not for you, Derek (although indeed, not everyone in Russia supports what is happening and current level of russophobia is disturbing), I'm taking about the topic in your post, they shoudn't say "it's impossible to use certain historically stinking methods by someone whos race is X (put any race here) - saying that is racism.Derek27 wrote: ↑Tue May 03, 2022 2:22 pmSorry, I was referring to the Russian government and top officials, not Russians.napshnap wrote: ↑Tue May 03, 2022 1:44 pmI thought that racism is to judge someone by race and not by act.Derek27 wrote: ↑Mon May 02, 2022 10:31 pmRussia seems to have a knack for pissing off every nation, even those who are the nearest to being called friends. Christ and I thought I was having a bad day!
There is no such thng as victory in war.
WW1 reparations created WW2.
WW2 essentially created the Cold War, to which we seemed to have returned.
Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan are all a mess. Africa and the Middle East are all over the place.
Imagine if all that physical/mental effort of those conflicts was put into positive pursuits.
For all humanity's ingenuity we can be really flipping stupid.
