An interesting appointment, given that this guy is just 33 and has never been a professional footballer...
His big break at the age of 16 is like something out of a movie:
'At the age of 16, Villas-Boas (who was always a Porto supporter) lived in the same apartment block as the English Bobby Robson, who was managing FC Porto at the time. Following a debate between the two, Robson appointed Villas-Boas to Porto's observation department'. (from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andr%C3%A9_Villas-Boas)
Jeff
PS At one point, this guy was matched at about 400 in the next Chelsea manager market!
Chelsea to appoint Porto coach Andre Villas-Boas

I predicted the transfer of the Villas Boas to chelsea in the first week of May. On 23 May I had the opportunity to share my predictions on this forum and I am convinced that other predictions will come true in the next 40 days. We will see

Very well Enzabella!
I also stated it had been continuosly reported that Chelsea was trying to hire him in the portuguese newspapers.
I was on vacations and wasn't able to completetly follow the deal, but as soon as Porto sent an information to the stock market that Vilas Boas had payed his release fee, it was obvious that Chelsea had hired him. Free money

Just to had that it looks like a very risky move from Chelsea. They are trying to recreate the 'Mourinho' effect, but I guess Vilas Boas is not ready yet as he is too young.
Vilas Boas had to take his chances. His going to earn 10 times more in Chelsea than he did in Porto! And to think that when in January his contract was renewed many said that he wasn't worth the money! €50k per month

caer...I bet villas boas will win many titles including the chanpions league within 2-3 years. He won`t be sucked if he fails the 1st and 2nd year. He will be given plenty time to rebuild a team the obviuosly needs some fresh air. I say that villas boas will be the chelsea manager for a good 5-6 years.

Given Abramovic's history of firing coachs, I'll take your bets. In five years I'll be paying you a visit
