Hope i'm not being too lazy but couldn't easily find an answer.
I'm new to automation and tried out some tennis automation today. I loaded guardian with the markets i wanted and set the rules i had created against some of the markets.
My first bit of automation was to place a lay bet at best price, 1 second after going in-play. Problem with this was all the waiting money got removed at the start and i immediately found myself backing maybe 5 ticks or more higher than i wanted or needed.
I thought i would change this to put the first lay in at 1 minute before start time and set the bets to keep in play which works but when i looked back at guardian the start times hadn't refreshed to the new order of play times that got updated through the day. As i had tried restricted refresh i thought that would be the issue but after i took it off with only 2 remaining markets left in guardian they still showed the old start times.
If i refreshed the markets in the tennis search they showed with the new times but guardian still had the old times. I had to delete and re-add the markets to get the correct start times.
Is this a known issue with Betfair updating the start times or a Guardian issue ?
How are people dealing with it ?
Many thanks in advance

How to deal with changing start times in Guardian
You need to search the markets again (as you did) to get the updated start times
But BF don't always do this or they can often do them in bulk with some being changed quite some time after they are updated
The other option is to manually change the times in Guardian just by clicking on the time and changing it (guess that depends how many you need to do if its plausible.
But even after the updated start time they will usually start a little bit later and those that do start 'on time' it'll still be 7-10mins after this when the match actually starts by the time they have there warm up and the server toss is done - during that time the odds will shift a few ticks
Regarding getting matched if your lay liability is greater than £10 then the easiest option is just to 'take SP'

You can only use 'Take SP' before it goes in-play, but once it has gone in-play you do have the option of placing the bet at the 'Actual SP'
