He was paid 1000's and spent a lot of time reading the paper because red tape had brought the project he was on to a grinding halt.
If I had to read a paper all day I'd want to be well paid for it. :)

Airfix models - no glue, no paint, just build!!

What's the point? Why not sell them pre-constructed??
:o
Getting glue fingerprints on the clear bits and having one rock hard paintbrush you didn't clean properly was all part of the experience. Pleeeease tell me they still have transfers... the ones that you put in a saucer and they float off before you're ready.

But its the same with Lego. A box full of basic bits needed imagination and engineering, these days it makes one thing.

Possibly the most evocative Airfix post ever. :-)
What were those kits that elbowed their way in?
My memory says it began with a T. But can't turn up anything googling so far.
I just remember them being a step up from Airfix. Typical model might be a rally or F1 car.
Flip. This is going to annoy me.

I saw the kit in Lidl and needed to rant about it but after all this talk I'm half-minded to buy a kit and assemble it when I'm drinking. It will make a change from trading. Some of the kits now come with glue and paints, so you won't have to go into a toy shop, queue up amongst 10-year-olds to purchase paints, pretending it's for your son. :D

Getting sick of hearing Rebecca Vardy's career is damaged. Since when has being a footballer's wife been a career?

There are plenty who choose to go into that line of work

What a crap summer we're having. It will be remembered for temperatures exceeding 40 but make no mistake, its just as lousy as the rest of them.

2020/21 was pretty crap for a lot people though. :-)
Although, for me, the 1st lockdown was bliss. Could do my favourite walk un-molested and enjoy the critters reclaiming territory normally infested with idiot bipeds and their predatorial quadrapeds.
Covid defintitely has changed footfall on my walk.
I now know I will encounter ducks snoozing on a path less than 2m wide, but if I move past slowly and quietly they're quite happy. That would never have happened pre-covid, they'd jump in the water as soon as I showed up.
Every cloud....... eh?

Do they heat the full house to 22ºC or main rooms to 16ºC and wrap up?
Thankfully we're not experiencing fuel poverty so we're on 26deg 247 365. Being warm is my #1 luxury. But that's a reaction to growing up in a house where my old man had the heating off from April to October even if it dropped to single figures.

You'd be better off living in a warmer climate. I've lived in a flat with drafty windows where I'd set the thermostat to 15ºC. If there was a strong westerly wind I'd drop it down to 13ºC rather than heat the troposphere, but I'd still be able to sit in a tee shirt most of the day. I'd reserve my warm jumper for the evening for a bit of extra comfort. :)
