If one of the contestants steps down, does the other become PM immediately?
I think so, that did happen before when one of the 2 dropped out.

“Under current rules, either Sunak or Truss would automatically become the party’s leader, and therefore Prime Minister, if their opponent withdrew their candidacy at this stage”

Done and dusted isn't it?
I predict she will lead the Tory's to a defeat at which point there will be more hand-wringing and maybe the Tory's will unite.
Just worries me what she might unleash on the country in the meantime.
Personally, I think she's aping Thatcher. Not a patch on Maggie as a politician. I hated Maggie's idealogy but she was a brilliant politician. Truss doesn't convince me at all.
It feels a bit like a buffoon has been replaced by a mad Rottweiler. We shall see. Hope I'm wrong.

I thought once we got a new PM we'll hear less of Johnson, but I'm beginning to think as time goes by, more and more of his lies and misdeeds will surface and he's likely to damage the new PM and party by opening his mouth. :)

As Truss will have to make cuts to meet the tax reductions, I wonder where that will be. Will it be HS2 which (with falling rail use) is a colossal white elephant?

The question is, will she fear losing the red wall or does she feel it's lost anyway? :D

She wants to do the following:

- Shrink the civil service and public sector workers by allot. i.e. tens of thosuands. As a result the state will become much much smaller.
- More of the NHS will be outsourced to private companies on fixed term contracts.
- Ask HMRC and other agencies to work out why there are so many inactive 16 to 64 year olds. i.e. Not dead, Not working, Not registered as self-employed, Not claiming benefits, Not in prison and not In hospital. It currently stands at 21.4% and rose by another 270,000 during the pandemic.
- Why are people working part-time when they could work full-time.

Some of the above will ring alarm bells or people think I am talking bollox but remember, Truss is well to the right of the party as is legally allowed. :D

Sunak's getting really desperate now, threatening to fine NHS patients £10 for missing appointments.

It absolutely infuriates me when people selfishly fail to turn up to GP appointments without cancelling them, but I managed it myself a few weeks ago when I woke up at 15:30.

I doubt many Tory members have time for the GP appointment crisis but the ones that don't have time to cancel their appointments will be counting the cost. :)

I got it wrong, it's only for patients who repeatedly miss appointments. I still don't see how they would enforce it or what they do if you don't pay. Refuse treatment?

By the end of the next parliament, so that could be 2029.
Both his and Truss's odds haven't budged, so it seems no-one is swayed either way.

So he's really going for the double, being selected as leader and then winning the next election.

What’s the odds on that 1000000 to 1 ?
