Anyone growing tomatoes? (The Gardening thread)

I wish the patience I've acquired through years of trading would extend to gardening. I just want one of these bastards to turn red!

Just like trading, it takes time, patience and effort, and even then you still need a small slice of luck on your side too. Though it looks like you are getting there, Derek27, they look nice and healthy. Those sungolds pictured above look really good too.


As you well know, in the cut throat world of sports trading, there are NO FREE LUNCHES.

How true, that pretty much sums up life.

Bit of a damper to end today, with high-altitude cloud filtering out my sunshine.

On the plus side, for those who don't like the heat, one or two more hot but partially cloudy days and much needed rain on Tuesday, where I am. I've dug holes into my lawn, I'm gonna give it a good watering tonight to ensure it's not too dry and water resistant when the rain arrives.

Feel so guilty watering my lawn. All those little spiders scarpering away from the jet of water, it must feel like a tsunami to them.

Funnily enough, that’s what I’ve just had for my dinner. Ham and egg on toast, with a side serving of FREE fresh tomatoes!

And they say there's no such thing as a free lunch. The stress involved in getting that tomato has wiped about 3yrs from Derek's life expectancy so maybe that's the price

Aphid attack on my chillis, mainly the tips near the glass. That explains the recent ant invasion I'll just sacrifice those branches and cheer for Team Ant.

I often buy in ladybirds for Aphids. They can munch through a ton of them in double quick time.
