So I've watched the crash course and then installed the basic Bet Angel program.

Now what do I do? I feel a bit abadoned as there's no immediately obvious next step or where to go. I know very little about trading or how to use BA. I just wanted to try out trading to see whether or not it's for me, and some sort of "Now do this" would have been nice.
Thanks, guys. :-)

There isn't a set path to follow it all depends on the individual and what/how they want to trade, so the next step is
what is it you want to do?
What sport?
Automated or manual trading?
Pre-off or In-play markets?

There's a ton of help on here, videos, examples etc for all the above but you need to decide where it is you want to start - for most this is manually trading the pre-off horse racing but thats not a path everyone does or wants to follow

There are plenty more videos that go beyond a crash course. You've seen the ladders on the videos, you need to download Bet Angel Professional, it has a two-week free trial. I don't think Bet Angel Basic has the ladder interface.

Okay, cheers. I was hoping for something a bit more linear, a clearly defined entry point. But I'll have a look round and see what I can find for the total newbie. First stop, a tour of the interface? Then walking me through my first trade? Let's see what I can find..... :-)

Trial and error is the best way to go. Minimum stake on Betfair is now just £1, so if you use those stakes, even if you lose it will only lose a few pence. You won't win much either but at least you'll get a feel for trading. Good luck.

You might find these two examples useful

viewtopic.php?f=47&t=13769

They look at doing your first scalp and swing trade on a pre-off racing market and how to use some of the tool available

As stated above there is also tons of other video, example and tutorials once you decide the general direction/sport etc you want to explore first

Thank you for those two. I think I pretty much understood the first one while the second one not so much.

But everyone who has tried BF trading must have been where I am now, so I'm not put off by how much I don't understand at this stage.

Many thanks! :-)

Not really, most come from a betting background and already have a specific use in mind (like selecting certain sections at target prices, or anticipating price moves, or goals). Others might come from financials and just want to buy low and sell high in an exchange market, whether its horses' odds or wheat futures prices.

What you haven't grasped yet its there's 100s of ways to trade so its not easy to be prescriptive. What do you actually want to do?

Trading is more art than science. Discovering trading ideas and building edges is a creative, intellectual and emotional endeavor, it's practically a journey of oneself. Very different to betting and matched betting, so careful what you sign up for!

But if you're interested in trading one way to start would be to try and win a single tick, consistently. Many traders started and built from there, myself included, and many of us shared parts of our journey, I shared some here as well. A lot to learn but keeping things simple is a good general rule of thumb.

Yes, I've been dabbling in matched betting for a short while so I'm coming form there.

But with trading, at the moment I'm kind of "I don't know what I don't know". It's entirely possible that I'll find it's not for me, and that's okay. I'm just exploring the stage that's one step on from just hearing about it, sort of thing.
