It appears Betfred have welched on some of Mr Curley's bets - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/news ... -bets.html

What intrigues me is how Mr Curley placed those bets, given that his account was presumably shut down yonks ago.

True. After I wrote that post, I read in the article that the bets were placed by relatives.

It sounds like the bets were placed online, so it's surprising that they weren't automatically referred to a trader and then rejected, given how much money was involved.

Pretty brave of the layers going that high, imagine the carnage if Barney started hammering it a minute before the off at 400s or whatever it was!
