Polls are there to create news articles, not a scientific analysis of opinion. They make weather forecasters looks good.sionascaig wrote: ↑Wed Oct 12, 2022 7:59 pmLast poll I saw if translated into seats gave Labour 530, Cons 29, LD 16, SNP 52...

UK General Election 2024 (or 25)
I sort of get the feeling that Lizz got the job because she appealed to the internal party mechanics. I don’t think they thought things through and it feels like she felt she needed to repay that with some headline policy fairly quickly, but didn’t think it through.
Even as a die hard Conservative, you would have to admit, politically, it was a mistake.
Going to take an immense amount of work to turn around opinion and I don’t think there is enough time left.

Truss has kept her mouth shut overnight at least, so I think you might have nudged the market a couple of ticks.Euler wrote: ↑Thu Oct 13, 2022 8:15 amI sort of get the feeling that Lizz got the job because she appealed to the internal party mechanics. I agree, considering all the antics and chaos from the Tories particularly these last 12mths it doesn't say a lot for Labour that they are not <1.10 for a overall majority
When ever i'm asked I just sum up each party in a single word
Torys = Liars
Labour =Liars
Lib Dems = Confused
Greens = Delusional
SNP = Obsessive
I sort of imagine if I asked Sturgeon if she would like a cup of tea she would respond, "In an independent Scotland people would be free to choose any beverage they like without interference from Westminster and a free Scotland would be able to represent the views of it's people clearly and to the benefit of everybody in an independent Scotland."
Would you like sugar? "In an independent Scotland...."
Milk? "In an independent Scotland...."
I think it's odd, because she is obviously hell bent on getting independence regardless of ANY consequences, she just wants to go in the history books, sod the populace. That's incredibly dangerous.

Wouldn't surprise me if all the signs along the boarder will be the first to be changed to;

Allegedly 30% of the people who vote are swing voters. The rest vote according to their ideology rather than on a few policies or personalities that come and go. It has to be pretty extreme to change somebody's world view 180 degrees.

Actually its the Tories that go on about independence more than Sturgeon - has been a gteed vote winner for them. There really hasn't been much of a peep out of them until recently.Euler wrote: ↑Thu Oct 13, 2022 11:38 amI sort of imagine if I asked Sturgeon if she would like a cup of tea she would respond, "In an independent Scotland people would be free to choose any beverage they like without interference from Westminster and a free Scotland would be able to represent the views of it's people clearly and to the benefit of everybody in an independent Scotland."

With Stammer promising not to do a deal with SNP labour will take the unionist vote next time round and Tories will be wiped out in Scotland. Was surprised how tactical the voting is in scotland but if you feel strongly about the union then no choice really.
I can just imagine the discussions going on in Downing Street today
"Ok, how do we do a U-turn on our budget and then convince joe public its not really a u turn, or if it is then its probably Keir Starmers fault?"
"Simple, just stick it on the front of the Daiy Mail and the saps will lap it up"

Le Tiss describes Sturgeon as "divisive". But she isn't. She has put a divisive issue front and centre of Scottish politics. And make no mistake Sturgeon has swayed some Unionists to become Independents. This is democracy at work. If Unionists, Westminster, Labour and Tories don't like it then work harder to persuade the Scots that being in the UK is a good thing. It ain't rocket science.Dallas wrote: ↑Thu Oct 13, 2022 11:44 amEuler wrote: ↑Thu Oct 13, 2022 11:38 amI sort of imagine if I asked Sturgeon if she would like a cup of tea she would respond, "In an independent Scotland people would be free to choose any beverage they like without interference from Westminster and a free Scotland would be able to represent the views of it's people clearly and to the benefit of everybody in an independent Scotland."
