UK General Election 2024 (or 25)
Looking more and more like Sunak. The Beeb showing him emerging from his HQ looking like a winner.
I failed to copy and paste the photo for some reason.
But anyway......

Rishi Sunak has been spotted stepping out of his central London campaign headquarters and into the back seat of a waiting chauffeured car.
He emerged just after 16:00 BST, and did not speak to the waiting press, the Press Association reports.
Keeping tight-lipped, he ignored questions about the leadership race and whether he will become the next prime minister."

Implied % chance is the only view that matters Imo and irons out the pennies at big prices. If there was an implied % ladder I'd use it, odds are fine for punters working out their winnings but a bit of a pain in the arse if you think in probabilities, or in terms of changes in probability. I've been gambling for 40yrs and still have to take a moment to work out say 70% out to 62%
All of a sudden the Truss backers have decided it was close and they would have been happy with either candidate.
If you supported Truss in the last race you shouldn't appear in TV interviews. You should stay at home, hang your head in shame and wear a paper bag over your head if you have to go out.

They may well have the numbers, over 160 are yet to publicly declare who they exactly backing. It could all come down to the lastminute.
We need Sunak to win without a ballot of Tory members as they will back Boris or Penny by a large margin. Then it be back to square one all over again.
If they have the numbers, why are they waiting to declare ?Archery1969 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 23, 2022 7:25 pmThey may well have the numbers, over 160 are yet to publicly declare who they exactly backing. It could all come down to the lastminute.
I imagine theres a lot of negotiations going on in the background

Apparently, Boris already called Penny and asked her to drop out and give her support/MP's to him. She refused and said if she drops out Sunak will have her and MP's support. I think Boris is grasping at straws but you never know in politics.

One of the few sensible decisions BJ has made. Credit to him. Let's now get on with sorting the s**tshow. Yes?
Edit: I withdraw this post having read BJ's weasal word statement. Even in defeat he still tries to swivel the debate to his aims.
"And though I have reached out to both Rishi (Sunak) and Penny (Mordaunt) - because I hoped that we could come together in the national interest - we have sadly not been able to work out a way of doing this.
Therefore I am afraid the best thing is that I do not allow my nomination to go forward and commit my support to whoever succeeds. "I believe I have much to offer but I am afraid that this is simply not the right time."
What a disingenuous arsehole!
