Pound sign missing in when exporting from Guardian

Why am I getting this ┬ú insetad of the £ sign when I export from Guardian?

This will be a setting somewhere in Excel that needs changing, I'm not sure where it would be but maybe one of the Excel guys here will be able to advise further
