Brazil rested players, but still performed well enough to win. (but didn't)

Not trying to make a point or an argument by disagreeing with you.......just a different view......

All beaten teams. No cheap defeats at the world cup. Historically is a good predictor in the Final as well. Being winter is hard to have full confidence in any traditional predictors. Think England have a solid punchers chance especially as the four teams above them in the betting have all been beaten already.
I admire your optimism, but wonder how old you are. At 61 I have been let down by England literally more times than I can remember.henbet22 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 03, 2022 9:37 amNot trying to make a point or an argument by disagreeing with you.......just a different view......![]()

The current crop seem to be flip-flopping between pretty good and disappointing. BUT they haven't lost and they topped the group, so does this validate Southgate's approach?
I wonder how many think we should go on the attack or try to manage Senegal and get a goal and take it from there.
Personally I want to see Bellingham and Saka and Foden/Grealish taking people on. If they fail, OK, there's no shame in giving it your best shot.
And attack is the best form of defence, as I still don't have great confidence in our defence.
The point was that being unbeaten is a much more favourable status to have than being beaten. I first noticed it in 1998 when I had John Higgins, Brazil and Swain in a long-term ante post patent to succeed in their targets. (I had Istabraq at 9/2 all winter fortunately in a single)...... Anyway when Norway turned over Brazil in the group stages it made me uneasy.
I think England were 7/1 in 98 my independent local bookie offered 8/1 and took it in cash (no slips) from everyone and said if anything happens to him then people would have to collect from his wife!! He was bullish that England were overrated as usual. I learnt a lot hanging around that place!!!
