Masterclass. Probably take their foot off the gas and put on a few subs second half.

Upsides of that half Brazil ruthlessly exploited S. Korea's bravery (naivety?).
Ali McCoist nearly had a heart attack (joking, of course. I like him, a great striker, but it was funny hearing him frothing at the mouth over S. Korea's defensive set-up).

Good effort from South Korea against a strong team.

A criminal psychologist was talking about how traumatic being burgled is regardless of how much is taken. Don't underestimate it. It took me ages to get over having a video stolen and the last thing you want is Sterling thinking about his stolen watch before he's about to take his penalty.greenmark wrote: ↑Mon Dec 05, 2022 3:24 pmFair point, I am guillty of jumping to possibly the wrong conclusion. But hey, perhaps this means I'm ideal for a journalistic job with the tabloids or now the BBC.Derek27 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 05, 2022 3:10 pmGive people the benefit of the doubt until you have enough information.greenmark wrote: ↑Mon Dec 05, 2022 1:33 pmNow the BBC is reporting the police as saying his famiy came home to discover items of jewellery and watches missing.
It's quite an important detail as to whether his family were there when the break-in occured. But accuracy seems less important these days.
I would imagine he has CCTV and the police have been all over that, so perhaps their version is correct.
Yes I am at least 50% cynic Derek27.![]()
When my parents were living in Uganda they had a servant (you didn't need to be wealthy to have one). My mum gave her time off when her mother died. She got more time off when her father died. Then her mother died again and she wanted more time off, but I'm sure my mother would have given her the benefit of any doubt the first time she died!
Or is that a BBCist remark?![]()

Galvanised into Samba action mode. Just brilliant.

I don't underestimate being burgled. It happened to me twice. 1st time I wasn't there. 2nd time i returned while they were still there.Derek27 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 06, 2022 12:27 amA criminal psychologist was talking about how traumatic being burgled is regardless of how much is taken. Give people the benefit of the doubt until you have enough information.

I was lucky. Burglars 1st task is to put the snip down on the front door so the owner can't get in.
I realised what was happening so rushed round the back to confront them. Utterly stupid thing to do. Thankfully they legged it. But one of the items they took was a Sabatier kitchen knife. So if I had managed to confront them......??
Anyhow after the 1st burglary I slept with a hammer next to the bed.
But it didn't alter any aspect of my life other than feeling a bit vulnerable (irrationally so IMO). And as I say I ddin't have the capacity to ramp up the security like Sterling does.
I still don''t see what use him flying back serves. Do they not have friends and relatives to offer support? It's a bit potty.
Stop assuming everybody reacts the same way as you greenmark, we're all different. I think I'm capable of coping better than most with life's traumas but some people can't function as well and I don't have a wife and young children to worry about so I wouldn't prejudge people or how they should react in certain circumstances. All I know is that many people would need time off work and playing football at the highest level is a job that requires full focus.greenmark wrote: ↑Tue Dec 06, 2022 1:15 pmI don't underestimate being burgled. In fact, I shouldn't even be typing this while I'm trading a WC match.
