A criminal psychologist was talking about how traumatic being burgled is regardless of how much is taken. Don't underestimate it. It took me ages to get over having a video stolen and the last thing you want is Sterling thinking about his stolen watch before he's about to take his penalty.
I was lucky. Burglars 1st task is to put the snip down on the front door so the owner can't get in.
I realised what was happening so rushed round the back to confront them. Utterly stupid thing to do. Thankfully they legged it. But one of the items they took was a Sabatier kitchen knife. So if I had managed to confront them......??
Anyhow after the 1st burglary I slept with a hammer next to the bed.
But it didn't alter any aspect of my life other than feeling a bit vulnerable (irrationally so IMO). And as I say I ddin't have the capacity to ramp up the security like Sterling does.
I still don''t see what use him flying back serves. Do they not have friends and relatives to offer support? It's a bit potty.
In fact, I shouldn't even be typing this while I'm trading a WC match.

That's one of the approaches. The other is to lie still. It's all manipulation. But I pity the officials trying to decide whether a player is in genuine jeopardy and needs urgent medical support. But I guess they are quite well paid for watching a game of footy with 99% of games passing with no serious medical issues.
