Are there any opinions on the difference between All Weather racing and flat racing with regards to how these markets behave with regards to trading? I've only recently started looking at horse racing trading again and as we're in the wrong half of the year for flat racing I've got no opinions at the moment but wonder if others do?

All weather is lower quality racing so it attracts less money so is more volatile than flat turf races

Whilst not answering your query on AW v Flat you can see from the charts below that AW v Non AW at least in this sample do not look to be aligned in behaviour.

That's great. I have a far better understanding from just a few short answers - thanks all.

Atho55 - thanks for providing your cumulative charts. So more variance for AW than NH if betting the fav? Would you say NH and flat turf are aligned to each other?

What I think are only Flat or only Jump courses for Rank 1. Flat is at the top

Thanks again Atho55. Quite similar - although it would only be an assumption atm to think that trading market behaviour is similar for both flat turf and NH. What stakes are used in your charts? And are the numbers before or after commission?

Volatility is more aligned to market volume than type of race. And market volume is linked to the quality of the race. AW is often poor quality whilst the flat/nh has a higher number of more interesting races. It takes more action to move a market with 20k either side than one with 20 quid either side whether it's dogs, horses or football. When given anonymised data excluding race type I don't think most people could seperate it into AW and flat.
