I've just been trying to create a new rules file in Guardian and accidentally managed to delete one of my current rules, which took me ages to create. Is there any way of retrieving this?
Thanks
Steve

Sort answer is no, unless you have access to a file recovery program that can retrieve files after they've been removed from your recycle bin

I store all mine on dropbox and that allows me to restore it, if I accidentally delete it.

It's a bit late now but it's crucial that you regularly back up all your files. You could accidentally delete an entire folder or have a hard drive error and lose everything. I'd recommend not using the standard folders for docs, pics, etc. and store all your data in a single folder (with sub folders of course), preferably on a different volume to your system volume and have it automatically backed up every day.

Many thanks for all of the responses
I'll make a start on a new rules file tonight - took a bit of working out last time but will hopefully be a little bit easier second time round
And in the meantime, I've exported all my other files to a specific Bet Angel folder and it's all back up on One Drive so hopefully no more disasters
Cheers

Probably a worthwhile exercise anyway. Every time I rewrite a rule from scratch I find ways to make it better, usually less lines and more efficient so it refreshes than tiny fraction quicker than before.

Just make sure its auto backed up each day, its very easy to forget sometimes or you do a lot of little changes and think "oh i'll just back it up later"

To me, backing up my files at the end of the day is like brushing your teeth, daily routine you do without thinking. :)

Yes
For many years I was in the corporate world and these things just happened in the background
Now I need to make a habit for myself
But One Drive is backing up continually so any files I save will be safe (hopefully)

Link not working? FFS I copied it directly from chrome
Google "microsoft file recovery tool"
it's available on the MS Store.

Thank you

I’ll give it a go just to see if it can be recovered. But already made a start on rewriting and hopefully improving it
Cheers
