Hi all ,

I'd like to try an automated a startgey that works OK for me , and that is the following , it's an inplay strategy

1. Only national hunt races
2. Uk only
3. Back runner that goes into to 1.25 odds inplay
4. Offset with greening 5 ticks /place a lay bet to minimise risk

Seems pretty easy but in practice mode it's not arming correctly and doesn't seem to get the back and lay on in time ?

There is a 1 second Betfair delay on horse race trades in-play. By the time Guardian detects the price is 1.25 and the trade hits the market, it's likely the 1.25 has long gone, particularly as this will usually occur towards the more volatile end-stages of the race.

Even if we are using a vps ?

Would increasing the odds help?

Maybe 1.4 or something ?

Your connection speed is in addition to the 1 second delay applied by Betfair to in-play horse races. It means it will take at least 1 second from the point that Guardian triggers to the bet being placed into the market. This makes it very difficult to guarantee a back bet will be matched at the desired odds when the price is reducing.

An alternative would be to use an appropriate trigger price that places your back bet at 1.01 to ensure it matches. Then save the price it is matched at as a stored value and use this to trigger the price of the lay.
