Everyone is in the same boat so it also annoys me that such a big deal is made over certain professions, and some can play the emotional card. Lots of people don't know how to live within their means although some may have unfortunate circumstances which are unavoidable.firlandsfarm wrote: ↑Sun Feb 12, 2023 9:15 amI knew you couldn't ignore my post!Derek27 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 11, 2023 10:28 pmNot sure what you mean by that.
Simple. The nurse on £35K (for example) has one or more of the following: a disabled husband who can't work, children, huge rent, huge mortgage payments courtesy of Loony Liz and the Kami-Kwasi budget, spends a lot on petrol to get to work, kids to school, etc.
Post the link to the article about train drivers on £65K or more claiming to be "destitute" and I'll comment?
What do you mean by "This"?![]()
"that". Well I would have thought it was obvious ... a government can do anything it wants to until it is disbanded by election, constitution or rebellion. Didn't you know that?
So nurses on £35k have all those overheads but 'not nurses' do not! Good to know.
https://www.cashfloat.co.uk/blog/person ... er-salary/ and if they are not "destitute" why are they wanting others to fund their greed?
"This" being the general strike action of the bullies, again I thought that was obvious.
I notice you were not able to advise how I can get a 19% increase on my pension.
What about carers who are doing a similar job to nurses but are on £10-15k less?
As for working conditions, my job as an electrician has had big staff cuts too and we are forced to do overtime on top of the full working week. That sometimes includes 15 hour days and being on-call over Christmas but none of us are striking over it.
If all the wages of the strikers were increased, that would surely mean that everyone else who worked throughout their life would lose out more on their savings/pension to inflation?
At the end of the day it's the fault of the government rather than the workers, but it's simply not fair to increase the wages for some individuals whilst others are forgotten about and left behind
