RANT CORNER
I noticed some nice birds picking up litter on my way to the supermarket. Then I noticed the older guy with them and thought, where have I seen him before? Then I remembered, he's the Green Party counsellor that knocked on my door the other week that I didn't have time to speak to. When I got home, I looked at the leaflet he left me. They were looking for volunteers for a litter-picking party - I could have spent the afternoon with those birds!

I don't know if it's just bad luck, but it seems you can't even give stuff away these days. Already had three no-shows for various free items in the last couple of weeks and today two separate collections planned with neither turning up. Reasonably valuable stuff, not rubbish.
Somebody on here said they left good quality compost outside their house for free and nobody was interested. When they put a sign up saying "£5 a bag, please knock" they were all nicked that night.jamesedwards wrote: ↑Sat Feb 18, 2023 5:21 pmI don't know if it's just bad luck, but it seems you can't even give stuff away these days. Exactly the same thing happened to a mate of mineDerek27 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 18, 2023 5:54 pmSomebody on here said they left good quality compost outside their house for free and nobody was interested. Did you list it on fb marketplace? In my experience it's an absolute cesspit, where the majority I think just like wasting your timejamesedwards wrote: ↑Sat Feb 18, 2023 5:21 pmI don't know if it's just bad luck, but it seems you can't even give stuff away these days. Just a local Facebook group. When you have something of awkward size you really need someone local to collect to avoid the need for any packing or shipping. The things yesterday were worth about £40 and £100 resell value with a quick clean up, and yet both were complete no shows and no contact since. What's wrong with people?Naffman wrote: ↑Sat Feb 18, 2023 11:40 pmDid you list it on fb marketplace? Popped down the pub for breakfast. While I was outside smoking I was chatting to a Scottish guy who was going up the city and offered to take me along. I said no thanks, I had an automation test set up for the day. As they got into their minibus I realised it was two blokes and three girls!
Should Dan Walker being knocked off his bicycle be front page news for the BBC webpage? I'm happy for him that nothing is broken. Collisions between cars and cyclists can obviously easily be far worse.
But it wasn't. If we speculated how bad a scenario could be there would be no room at all for factual news.

When I was younger I used to regularly cycle London to Brighton, the start and finish of which was along the A23.
Today I saw a grown man cycling along the pavement, he comes to a junction, the lights were green but he dismounts his bike, pushes it across the first two carriageways, waits two minutes before crossing the rest of the road and getting back onto his bike.
How I'd love to have seen him get run over.
